A duplicate privacy policy

Hi, just wondering if you can get busted by Google for using the same privacy policy on two Blogger blogs? This does not mean that the privacy policy has been copied from someone else on the web, but it has been taken from an existing blog of mine with obviously the URLs changed. Worth the risk or should it be re-worked as much as possible? Cheers.

You shouldn't allow google to index your privacy policy, your tos, or any of that stuff. It has zero value to your site (unless, of course, your site is about writing privacy policies which I doubt it is). Using robots.txt, block all of those pages.

Even so, all privacy policies look and feel similar so you have nothing to worry about.

I agree with Dglassman26. Just block the search engine spiders from such pages and you have nothing to worry about. It is common practice to block spiders from pages such as privacy policy, terms & conditions, contact page, etc. There is no point in wasting internal PR on those pages. I would block those pages with both the robots.txt and also include rel="nofollow" attributes on all links to those pages.

This is good information. Thanks! I never thought of "noindexing" the TOS and privacy policy, but I can see now why it is a good idea, because they are not relevant to the site.

I agree. I have the same PP on around 30 sites and blocked them all using robots.txt

Best be on the safe side.

Thanks everyone for the useful information. I will block via a robots.txt (meta tag)!
