I wish to create my own directory for my city If I add my own listings from various other sources like other local directories/local Search Engines etc., Whether my directory would have any copy right issues??
If you rewrite the descriptions then I dont think there will be any copyright issue. Just dont use the meta descriptions of the links. Good luck with your new project.
you can ask site owners if you can add their site link to your directory. or look for copyright material on site for guideline. i add many sites on my own to my directories. but if any one objects just remove that link
The results themselves would most likely not be copyrighted but the site descriptions certainly are. If your 'other sources' include other directory-type sites, I would say that you are wasting your time by simply creating duplicate content.
Just rewrite descriptions and titles (if ncessary). You should remove any such site if requested by the owner.
I might add one more If your creating your own directory, then you would not copy anothers directory, for if you do you are not creating your own but duplicating others. Not saying anything good or bad there thats your call, but if you want to stand out then your going to need to put a new act up on stage thats exiting to the punters so they wish to come back, pay their dime and watch the next performance.
When researching websites in my locality I found the hard copy yellow pages had a lot of websites listed that would normally be difficult to find due to the poor marketing of them.
