I was asked a difficult question last night by a person who wants to specialize in an area of the internet, instead of been a 'jack of all trades and master of none' in terms of internet capability and skills. The questions was - "what area of the whole web design / development do you think it would be best to specialize in... what skill is sought after and what skill would is most valuable from a financial point of view" I thought for a few minutes on it and my top 3 responses were: - iOS Development - Java Development - PHP Development What would be your top 3 (in order of priority) Looking forward to seeing people's opinions on this...
The most valuable would the one you like the most. For example if you hate Java and like PHP, then it makes sense to be master in PHP, even then if Java would be more valuable. Even if Java is more valuable, then noone would order your services, since you do not like Java and it can be seen from your work. In short stick with the system you like the most and try to maximize your skill on that. This way you can assure you will get the max out of it. If you do know, what you like the most, then try out them all, and then you will know....
Ha, thanks i knew someone would come back with that answer... and it makes perfect sense but the question in hand is solely to find out which is the most valuable skill from a financial point of view (imagine that the person loved all of them equally)
Then you would know them all, since I have over 7 years of experience and language does not matter to me any more. I would make an app using iOS and it would communicate with server that is using PHP or NodeJS. All of those bits are needed you see
