Hello ! I really don't know what should i do to pick up a products that sells. I'm really tired of building up PPC campaigns with a low volume of impressions (<300 / day) i spend time to pick keywords using keywords analyser. After i try to make a good copywriting work (for a newbie) i have a CTR of 3% on average but i just don't have enough clicks to test my campaigns rapidly (it takes about 15 days to get 100 clicks...) :weep: I have the feeling that i don't pick the good products or that i narrow too much my keywords (i only take relevant keywords). Is there someone who would like to help me a little bit because i've readen affiliate project x and adwords miracle, i applied the concepts as far as i can but i've not made my first sale yet even if i try hard :'-( Your help would be really appreciated, Thanks.
Finding the right things to promote is 90% of the battle. The rest is just hard work and tweaking things just so...
Thank you for your help beejeebers. In fact i was really wondering what i was doing wrong, so if i follow your advice i should spend more dedicated to pick the right product. Do you have a strategy for choosing your products, how do you do ? Best regards,
I agree that having the right product is vital if you are looking to run a PPC affiliate programme. One word of warning, is that market is become increasingly saturated i.e. more and more people chasing the same traffic. As far as your campaigns go - if you are only getting 300 impressions a day it may be worth testing keywords that you think are less relevant and then using your ad copy to try and get the right kind of traffic. For example, if you sell blue widgets you bid on red widgets and then use your ad copy to point out that you are a seller of blue widgets and point out the features/benefits of them.....some people searching for red widgets may be interested in blue widgets. Thats why you will frequently see large companies bidding on each other's company names -- because if you are looking for a renault car -- it follows that you MAY be interested in a peugot -- and so it's a good time for an advertiser to show their message. In other words if you are not getting the volume of traffic you require use some lateral thinking to consider other keyword avenues that may generate traffic. The most important thing to do as your campaign grows is to track and test i.e. see what works and throw more money at it ...... see what doesn't work and stop spending on it. You don't mention if all your current advertising is on adwords, overture or msn .... but if it's not then increasing your current keyword list to all 3 engines is a way to generate more traffic. Good luck
Hi Bornagaintrainder and thant you for your input, You're absolutely right when you talk about lateral keywords. In fact i was a bit afraid of attracting non qualified leads and i understand now that i need to have a really good copy to attract "borderline" leads. Thanks for your precious help, Best regards, jean-jacques
Exactly, you can use your ad copy to sift borderline leads and it's only the conversion data which will show you whether they convert or not. For example - if I had a campaign for renting Ferrari's - I would obviously bid on keywords like 'rent a ferrari' but I might also bid on other related terms ..... 'rent a porsche' -- and see if they convert. Then with a bit more lateral thinking look at other ferrari related terms..... If they see a creative which says 'Rent A Ferrari, Only £XXX a day, Order Online' - I will hopefully sift out people who are not prepared to pay XXX a day. The reality of situation is that most traffic won't convert but that's the nature of all marketing/advertising. The only question is whether the people who convert pay for all the wasted traffic AND leave you with a profit. Enjoy
Very true words, don't be afraid of lateral phrases as long as your ad copy is relevent to what you're trying to accomplish. As for picking products. The ones that do not require a credit card are a good start. (you can make money when you require a credit card sale too, but the volume is a bit less.)
