A decline in RPC in WidgetBucks?

Did you guys realize a huge decline of RPC in Widgetbucks recently? This ad was performing very well on my site on Oct with $0.48 per click, it then decline to $0.27 per click on Nov. December so far is horrible, I am only getting $0.05 per click on average.

Notice that I am running MerchSense which should theoretically pick the best paying ad for my site. Maybe it is a best time to stop using them for a while since they just issue the payment. Anyone here have similar experience?

 

As they recommand, use category not merchsense...

As far as i remember, the RPC rised few weeks ago...

 

For me rpc is increased for 20%

I'm getting a similar low RPC for december, anybody else have the same issue? Or care to share their RPC average this month so far?

Well Candle21428, I found this post with a screenshot, it shows categories and their RPC, but I have no idea if these are average or not. I've also found one for "music"; it shows similar RPC as "movies".

But the screenshot in this thread shows a much higher PCR. But that post is from early october, so that might have something to do with it.

So anybody has some more information on this?

 

Widgetbucks is like everything else. The best performing category is different for everyone. Put up what would interest your visitors and you will get clicks and $$$. You don't want to just pick the one with highest RPC. You won't always make more with a higher RPC. Even if you do make a little more, its not always a good idea to use them if they aren't relevant to your visitors. Sending lots of untargeted clicks that don't convert will eventually drive down the RPC of the category. Advertisers are there to make money too.

 

Mine has gone up like 15% I hope it doesnt go down...haha I better go check...When did you notice it go down?? Today?

 

I removed completely their code because of low earnings.
If they return to the $0.40 level, I will switch back.

 

You are right, it is always better to put up something that would interest our readers. However, my niche was not found on WidgetBucks even though products from the same niche can be found on Shopping.com or bizrate. In my case, why not getting the highest paying ad that will maximize my profit?

But anyway, you are right. RPC will drop eventually if all we send is only untargeted traffic.
