if you have a few seconds to spare while you drink you class of joe I would really appriciate some help on a few questions of mine..they may be a little newbish but im still trying to get my rankings up in msn.. I know owning the domain of the keyword is very helpful in msn. I was fortuanite enough to get the exact domain of the keyword I was going for..I feel this should help me greatly in the rankings but I am curious of a few things.. will msn dock points or anything to someone who has a similar domain for instance: the--keyword-here.com? Or is there anything I can do to keep ahead of them other than adding inbound links and content? I have thekeyword.com and feel I should be able to secure the number one spot fairly easily..I just want to know the best ways to keep it! my second question is..I notice alot of guestbook spam sites and blog site's in the top rankings for the keyword right now (I am involved in an seo competition)..I am competing with people using sites like the-keywordhere.blogspot.com..and noticing alot of links in what looks like guestbook spam comments..is this a good sign or a bad sign? Will it be harder for my site to rank since blogspot has such a very high link popularity? on a third note, when this competition started I went and registered some blogs such as thekeyword.blogspot.com..the-keyword-here.blogspot.com...should I do anything with these? Is it possible to use one of those and actually place higher than my actual domains because of blogspot's LP? answers to any of these would be greatly appriciated. I really wanna win this competition and feel I have a darn good shot!! hope you enjoyed your cup of joe and have a second to type
You need a lot of links to beat a seo competition like that. Same goes for keeping the position. Join co-ops, networks, etc. Use your blogs to get related links for your site. Best of luck.
but the guy in first place is using a free blogging site..and the guy in second right now doesnt even have the keyword in his url..any ideas?
Keywords in URL is important but not as important as having keywords in anchor text in back links. Get as many links as humanlly possible, each having your keywords in linked text... Do the on page optimization tightly around the keywords, build subpages with the same theme, link to them with your keywords in link text (internal links to subpages) and success is not far away!!!
there is a lot of guest book spamming in msn these days. to keep up with competetion you will need to add a lot of content and really good quality links to your site. i would say step up ur reciprocal linking with some software or a link exchange site like linkmetro.com or linkmarket.net or something. but if you are competing in OP or Porno then this might not be a really good option.
well guys I threw up a wordpress blog and have been pumping out posts on there like crazy..Some related to the keywords and others to the contest itself. I have also purchased a number of one way links and started submitting into a done of non-reciprocal directories. I am pleased to say since I posted this I have taken over #1 spot in Google..and currently on page 2 on msn (msn bot seams to be very slow to recrawl my site)..I'll keep you posted. thanks for the advice guys!
