A couple of SEO questions

Hey, i have two SEO related questions.

    1. Is it worth allowing Google indexing your search pages? First of all, these pages provide no real content, but in a way links to that content. Then, we're talking about non-static URLs on these search pages.

I'm almost sure i should stick a noindex, nofollow to these pages, but I'm looking for a second opinion.

    2. Let's say we have a content site. On an article page, besides the Main Article, you have a couple of internal links poiting to your categories, to your other popular posts, and so on.

I was thinking i should use nofollow on these internal linlks to prevent link juice spread and maybe get a higher SERP's position. What do you think about it? Does Nofollow have any impact on internal linking and link juice distribution internally? Advices from people who might have allready tried this would be great.

That's it. Waiting for your answers. 10x

    Hey there,

Theres no reason why you can not have content on your search pages. For example, this is what I did for a real estate website I made:

    http://www.lukebouman.com/advancedSearch.cfm

My philosophy on juice spread is this.. The only page that really matters in the SERP results is the home page. If your home page is high in the serps, people that visit it will visit your other pages. The only links thats really going to effect your home page PR is incoming links from other sites.

By the way, what is the URL of your site?

    Sincerely,
    Travis Walters

I disagree with you. I need my internal pages to get very good positions in SERPS cause each page is focused on a key phrase.

The page we're talking about is not in english. All i can say is that my search page looks something like this: http://www.go4it.ro/?module=website&section=default&page=cautare_generala

So you see, there's no real content there.

And please don't tell me the site is badly coded, cause i know. It was not done by me and i can't change it. I just have to raise it in SERPS... :|

Googles advice is to disallow indexing of pages that have very little content. I guess it's up to you how closely you follow this, unless you're generating excessive SERPS pages in a way that looks like you're trying to manipulate their rankings I doubt you'll suffer any penalty.

At the same time sometimes it's good to disallow Google from spidering pages you're not interested in getting indexing so they spend more time on the pages you DO want indexed.

I don't agree with that either - at least 60-70% of incoming links should go to interenal pages. I get about 90% of my traffic from serach queries to internal pages. That's where the volume is!

Wrong philosophy. Like above mentioned the home page should attract traffic only for main keyphrases but internal pages should attract a lot of traffic with long tail searches. Your inner pages might have great content but if people only come to your homepage they might never get to your content.
