Definitely go w/ the one HERE. It looks clean while the other seems to be "over done". I don't know how to explain it exactly. A clean site wins my vote every time. That said, I'm not a great designer so take my words w/caution;)

    I go with this: http://www.topbidwebdirectory.com/
It still kind of needs some work. Such as the descriptions seem to be very squished together, which would look better if it were not.

I like some parts of the design on the other one but it doesn't look very good overall.

Vote for the first here too, maybe a custom background for the header would help liven it up a little. I also notice in IE6 that the layout breaks, all links other than the featured one drop to the level of the bottom of the categories. Other than that it looks good :)

I like the second one, perhaps if you improve the background of that one then it will look good. Until then, my vote goes to the first one.

is there anyway possible you can get me a screenshot of it in ie6 as I have
ie7 as it came with my pc and won't let me install ie6, I do have ff, opera and Safari
Improve how by using another color for instance white
by tone down are you referring to different colors or just a lighter shade of it
