You covered mostly on page items rather than off page. off page items are also important in SEO.

Indeed, SEO involves numerous techniques and ways of optimization. There is so much more information to cover, and research to do. In my answer I was mainly concentrating on site pages content optimization, although some of the off page methods (link exchange) were touched upon too.

Basically, if you run an online business - you are forced to somehow or other interact with search engines, as this is the main source of traffic for your website.

For those site owners who do not have enough time or patience to wait for a traffic flow for months - PPC ads might be a solution. They guarantee instant increase of traffic with no efforts from your side. But there is always a reverse side - you will have to pay a certain rate for each site visitor. If you start getting hundreds of visitors daily - your financial expenses for such advertising may become huge. No guarantees that the revenue will cover the costs. Besides, as you stop paying - the traffic flow stops too. But still, when it comes to online community sites - PPC ads can really work (and work fast) for building the initial members database.

If we stay away from on-page SEO at all - article marketing can be a good help. Posting on well-known and haunted Internet resources will inevitably attract visitors to your site (provided your posts or at least a resource box contain links to it).

Link exchange with content-related sites brings its fruits too.

Also, writing press-releases and posting them on such resources as, say, PRweb (paid one) will help you promote your website on the Internet.

Not to forget your website look and content. Both should be relevant and attractive.
