A counter for my website

    Hello all!

I run an online poker forum at cardsinner.com where we host private tournaments and add money to the prizepool. I am an Administrator on the forum where we post the passwords for these events.

The reason I mention this is because I would like to know if anyone here could help me figure out how to set-up a counter for our forum. What I want to do is put up a counter that counts dollar amounts upward. The idea is to give our members a general idea of the amount of money that we have given away on our site.

I don't want to track the actual dollars paid, but more of just a general ballpark that slowly scrolls up continuously, similar to the one on the top of the raketherake.com website.

I've searched around on the web for counters but all I could find were countdown timers and web-page hit counters. Not what I need.

Thanks for taking the time to read this post and for any advice you have to offer.

the one on raketherake is an image.

If you're not going to be actually counting the stuff you need to find a way to check that information, if you're going to be estimating the amount based on $/h, why not use a script like the one on GMAIL.com that they use to guess size.

Yeah, I just looked again at RTR; that one is an image now. Last time I was there, it was a running counter.

I'm not familiar with what you're referring to on gmail.

I'd like to clarify that I have basically no idea what I'm doing when it comes to programming other than some very basic html, script, etc. Total newbie here.

Okay, RTR's "counter" is back to actually being a running counter again instead of just an image.

Anyone have any idea how I would go about making or finding a counter like this for my website? Again, it doesn't need to actually track anything, just going for a ballpark figure here. Just as long as it counts money upward.

Any help is greatly appreciated here.
