A month ago I started a site called Handlemistakes.com

I got reached the top very fast for the search term: handle mistakes

Things is, I expected it to be a hot search term but it turns out that it only generates 1 visit every second day.

I also find out with the help of the Adword counter that none of my titles on my 30 articles that I display on the site generates a single search a day.

But I noted that the word 'mistake' generates 70 google searches everyday and that the word 'mistakes' generates even more; 124 google searches every day.

Mayby I should start to compete for the top position for one of these words, but then I have a rough competition of more than 100 million sites, with a PR6 site in the top(Moviemistakes.com). Is it possible to beat such competition? How much effort do I need to put in? How should I be able to even pick one of the top ten?

1. Should I quit with Handle mistakes and instead go for mistakes

2. What keywords? There's only two that is usefull

3. What kind of linkbuilding? Forum signatures? My goal is a very hard goal I think

well if you wanna rank for mistake(s) try repeating the word many times in the page... im not sure if the href is gonna help.. the most important thing imo is how many sites link to you with the "mistakes" anchor text.

I just banned you from one of my forums for making 26 moronic posts like "haha" and "too long to read" over and over again in a matter of 5 minutes. It was clear you were only trying to pad your post count for signature links. If that's your approach you won't get very far.

What is the point of the site. That is the question you should really ask yourself.

optimizing for "mistakes" is silly - the phrase alone is totally meaningless and won't generate any traffic anyways.

mistakes could be the wrong word all together.

I didnt mean forum signatures. I meant paid links on sites... with your anchor text... I dont allow forum signatures on my forums unless its a respected member anyway. Other signatures get deleted asap.

"handle mistakes" describes the point very well. I think that people that just write mistakes on google want to learn how to handle them and that's the point with my site.

1. I didn't wrote "haha" a single time
2. I did wrote "höhö" because the posts was funny. I saw that a lot of other members leaved similar posts there.
3. How else should I generate traffic?

The point was, latehorn, that you can't just go into a forum and make 26 one or two word posts over and over. If you want signature links in forums you should respect the webmaster and at least contribute some content. Besides, posting on OTz wouldn't do you any good, I don't show signatures to guests and bots :D

My advice, do like you do here on DP. Post useful content and let the signature link be a reward for contributing.

Latehorn, you have clearly failed to do any keyword research which is a fundamental mistake (couldn't resist, yet true).

Go to WordTracker and even if you only use the free trial service you will see quite clearly that your target keyword phrase, "handle mistakes," is nowhere to be found. The top searched for phrase when it comes to mistakes is "honest mistake". You should perhaps rethink your strategy.

Think is that I made the site, then did a keyword research and didn't find handle mistakes so I thought wordtracker was corrupt. I soon discovered that there was very few hits from the phrase: handle mistakes

But.. there is no phrase that describe my site better. (Mayby handle problems, or handle issues) And none of the words in the list I received on wordtracker fitted with my site(other than mistake and mistakes)

Anyway, now I will try to make to the top on the words: mistake and mistakes, without paying a thing. How?

You'll need to get creative. When I look at your site I think "self improvement." Working off of that, some keyphrases that you might look into include self esteem, motivational, hypnosis, self image, mental, thinking, get smart, troubleshoot, intelligent, intelligence, IQ, stupid, psychology, and on and on and on.

If you look around at this forum, someone would love to give you 100 links for maybe 15 bucks. And it helps!
