LOL. What are they gonna patent? Yahoo's algorithms!

But I must say the results of this engine aren't all that bad. Wasn't slow for me as others complained. But maybe I just caught it at a good time.

I was reading just few days ago a serious Google competitor, not because the search engine capability but the name.

According with the readings, even Google was concerned about Booble, the unbiased adult porn search engine.

The only thing that is going to challenge Google is the one which can give better results. Google is almost unbeatable for very common words but for uncommon words it dont give exact or should I say better results. I think this is where some one has to come up with there algorithm. By idea wise I think all search engine follow the same approach of collecting and indexing :) and Naaah I don't think so that meta search engines are the solutions. Infact they tend to degrade Google results :p

The problem for anybody starting a new search engine is they have to be as good as the others when they launch otherwise nobody will take any notice.

How could a new search engine ever hope to match googles algorithm which has been continually evolving and improving for years?

actually the search engine is not that bad - for the word briitney, it "gave" me Results 1 - 10 of about 51,000,000 for web. (0.08 seconds) where as Google gave Results 1 - 10 of about 19,600,000 for britney. (0.15 seconds) :D Ofcourse Google discard less relevant results :D and one more thing, the first result with preview seek is www.britney.com where as with Google is www.britneyspears.com - The official website of Britney Spears :D I guess they have to give me some more reasons to stop using Google :D

A big marketing budget can outperform an SE with better results. And you require a massive infrastructure to support growth. It's certianly not as simple as you say it is.

No disrespect intended, but Cantufind.com has been going for a lot longer and is better than the site you suggest. The only threat to G and the other big ones is the fact they are creating giants that need to be fed! In other words, only a mass exodus from them to searches like Cantufind will make any kind of impact, and even though that is likely in the end, as is armageddon, you'd be best to accept that neither you nor any other will be a competitor as such! Merely an pimple on thier butt, simply a mere annoyance?>?

Good luck by the way. Submit the engine to Cantufind for review and also 100% to The Orange Pages as I feel there is a sneaky chance that some directories might just make them vogue again. Dmoz have a terminal illness methinks, so fresh blood is needed and TOP is the one. No one ever thought that Fuzzy Hairstyles or Flaired trousers would come back into fashion but they did! Simplicity is the key!

for me , i would say they try to provide the search result like combining Google search and Google site map .That would be a good idea to serve people with more information together .

But I think their are still in beta period so sometimes the connection is not so good as well

Yes absolutely right :) May be this is where Miscrosoft comes into picture. M$ if the want, can put the money and resoures to come up with better search engine(overall). But I am sure that right now they want to do this. They are looking more to concentrate on embedded and mobile devices. The most impressive thing about Google is it's continous improvement.

No promotion is rediculous, and if people like you continue to praise the almighty then they will always have the upper hand.

    btw

It says 'Probably the best search engine ever' But I guess that's just another pathetic attempt at me promoting anything other than my own interests.

Firstly thanks for the post, as I think most take the info gleaned as a god given right. That's a dig at the pricks working for the big 3 or so. :D There is two ways to beat the misleading impression that Google gives on development, is that they only develop at the whim of the user and all but force the website owner into helping them. Algorithms etc. I know the chap from Cardiff who started the game, I studied with him! No one has seen we are building the ultimate robot to rule the world???? For F%&$& sake, lets get a grip, Bearings bank went down in a bat of an eyelid for billions, you think that sucking up to the big guns arses is gonna save you.? Spread your bets and remain in contact with the baby engines, who by the way, have the courtesy to hide their spiders. Duh!!!! Technology. Look at your site and where it is in our results......

The only thing I should say against Google is the infamous language detection.

I do a lot of reseach to write on different subjects requiring different languages and Google always detect my American english keyword despite I need google.co.uk results. This is not as notorius as if you try google.de, google.es or google.it where you keep getting english instead of the corresponding languages and related pages, though you have the option to switch them, which I consider an annoying milliseconds waste of time.

Even worst, spending some vacations with my friends in Tijuana and using a Spanish keyword, Google keep bringing the Mexican version instead of any other and obviously presenting first the relevant Spanish results :/
