    Hi,

A college recently linked to my directory. Their link page that links to me is a pr4.

The thing is, I think they made a mistake, 'cause they linked to an inner page that lists other schools! That's their competition so why would they do that other than a mistake.

    So my question is:
Is it good for me that they linked to an inner page, or do I prefer they link to my homepage and ask them to change that?

    Thanks!

there is no mistake, they are linking to a page with other schools, something similar, a link is a link, you should be really happy that they actually linked to you.

They linked to a page they likely felt was a resouce of value and interest to their visitors. Good job.

I am happy they did. Thanks.

Just curious what the difference is when linking to inner page vs. homepage and which is preferable?

    Thanks.

None, that I know of. A link is a link. Most search engines index your site not just your home page.

The difference for them is that they link directly to related content and do not force their visitors to navigate your site to find it.

It never hurts to have links to your internal pages. :)
