A client wants a refund, because the detail page of his listing outranks his website on google! Did you have to deal with such as situation?
He purchased a listing on one of my directories and the detailpage of his listings (like this one http://www.kahuki.com/detail/link-10399.html) is result number 1 on google for his main term. His own domain is ranked as number 2. Thats why he want his listing deleted and a refund.
Is he serious I would regard it as money well spent and it would get me to check my site, to see why that situation had occured Actually my response would also spur me on to submit more reviews to your site (He is obviously a Peon/Expert/Webmaster/SEO King or some other grandiose title or he has too big an ego, or both and thinks blah blah)
The guy is an idiot. He now effectively has both spot #1 and #2, since your page is essentially an advertisement for his site. Screw him. If he wants a refund give it to him, remove his website from that page. But by all means, keep the page there and promote his competition instead. See how he likes that.
Just tell him, because of your directory listing he is number 2 in google, if you remove it from your directory, his ranking will fall drastically.
I definately wouldnt give a refund... id agree to an edit though... Its when he complains about you sending him traffic that you need to worry
Although obviously as others are pointing out, you think this person would be happy with the result he is getting from your directory but i guess there could be a number of various reasons for his request. If the listing hasn't been in place long i would personally fulfill his request and refund him but im not sure what is ideal in this situation to be honest.
Yeah, I understand his point as well. I guess my more level-headed advice would be to tell him that he should be happy that you're number 1 for his terms, because no matter if they click the number 1 or number 2 spot in the search engine, they are ultimately going to be recommended to his site. It's funny, because he thinks this is a bad thing, but if I were in his situation, I'd be thrilled.
What an idiot, though my ego would be a bit hurt if a page listing my site was ahead of me in the rankings, but in the end the traffic is going to the main site so its good. Why don't you forward him this link and let him read it for himself, what other webmasters think of his "judgment".
I sent him a mail and explained it to him and also and offered him to change the keyword or to refund him... lets see what happens
Cool. I like what yogesh sarkar suggested. Send him the link to this thread. I'm sure that would change his mind
