I own about 60 websites in a certain niche and need to get more traffic. Each of the sites target down to a specific category in that niche. They are all about 3 years old, and they have content on them. The content needs to be rewritten, but there are like 1000 articles through out the 60 websites... and I am only one person. Should I choose one of my domain names that can be used as an "authority site" then take all the articles from the mini sites and place them on the main site and do 301's? Or just stick with the original plan and make each mini site it's own authority site for that target category? Also a lot of my inner pages do not get listed in google according to the google pr checker thing in the toolbar, is this because I have to rewrite my articles or is it because I have to accumulate more backlinks to that page. Any help on how I can get traffic flowing to my sites would be AWESOME!! Thanks in advance.
are your sites built on some sort of software? Most sites will ping and get crawled if you use wordpress etc.. I have a number of sites all built on wordpress without any good quality stuff on them still get indexed. You can try some automated pinging to get crawled but if the content is the same across all then it is unlikely to get indexed on each site. I would recommend keeping everything in one niche on one site. Put all sub categories on one site, the bigger the site the better. Your site will get more authority plus people can cross reference between categories and keep internal traffic flowing well. We have all gone onto a site looking for something but find something else. Your mini sites should 301 to the main site and move all content there, you will get a better response on traffic and rankings overall done this way. I think Google has got so smart against a network of sites in order to force people to do it this way.
Why don't you sell those mini sites? Do SEO for each site, target niche keywords, bookmark on all major social sites, hire someone to do backlinks on PR sites 2-10, write 4 to 5 articles that link back to your mini site, put amazon related products (make money) and/or then sell it.
Thank you both of you for your posts. My "mini sites" are actually state defined websites for the niche. For example I own "GreatKeyword.com" then also own about 40 "StateKeyword.com" sites. That's why I was wondering on what to do. Make all the mini sites authority for their own state or just combine all the articles on "GreatKeyword.com" and make that one site big. I dont want to sell the mini sites for the possible potential of them getting traffic. If they start getting any traffic, then I will be rich!!! but I cant get them to get any traffic and I am lost as what to do.
Use social media (twitter, facebook, linkedin, etc. ) to promote your sites. use sites like addmefast and youlikehits to build your social following and get others to tweet your links. you can reach thousands of people this way. good luck.
submit your url site to all social bookmarking. or post great content to your niche forum and get traffic. Video marketing is good way to drive traffic to your site, but video conten is impotant. With so much sites (60 sites is too much for a single business as long as it is a huge MNC) or a site for each service provided in the niche its going to be very difficult to single handedly write quality content and to try to rank each site. Its better to have a single site for similar services, mainly trying to keep the number of sites to minimum and be consistent in writing quality content for them, promote the content and be active on social media, this will get lot of traction for your site. Try to build a good brand not site for each keyword, which is not a good practice.
