A bit confused on how ads should show

    Hi

I just decided to use DigitalPoint for my website. Its WordPress, The plugin I used was a Widget that supported JavaScript. So I opened the "Enhanced Text Widget" and copied the advertisement code that I designed.

But nothing showed. not even the empty ad. I also disabled the "Advertisement is Available", I didnt quite understand what it was.

Anyone that has used the ads can explain a little about how it really works ?

If you cant explain, can you at least direct me to a place I can get legit info ?

    Thanks,

Ill sent my Link via PM to avoid posting links or do anything that might be perceived as self-promote . . . surely on a site this big, people can get banned very easily . . . lets not tempt the hand of the Admin :)

Anyway, the widget is set to show up at "Single Post" meaning it should show up at a post you click. but I dont know why, I get different things in different news articles, and they are not ads.

click a few news articles and check out if you can see if there is a difference.
the ads are under the widget called "Related Content"

I think I see what's going on... the ad system uses jQuery for some things, and your site already has jQuery installed so Digital Point Ads doesn't try to load it again. Normally it's fine, except your site destroys the default $ variable that jQuery uses.

Either way, it should be fixed now... we no longer assume $ is valid if you already have jQuery loaded.

cool, so it should work when an ad pops in. which brings my next question I red in the FAQs, it said that the highers bidder ad will automatically show. So do we have any control over it ? or can we see who our advertisers are ?

also since i cover a few categories, why isnt there a possibility to for example set key words for your site ? or to add more than 1 category ? though i guess i understand why, since some might just spam the box with irrelevant keywords so they get most ads. but then again how about category and subcategory ? i mean technology by itself is too broad. News by it self its too broad. perhaps a sub caegory like after they click technology they get the subcategories Gadgets, Internet, Industrial designs . . . etc . . .

thanks alot for the response again. so now I just have to wait until someone comes right ? will i be notified in anyway when it happens or does it just happen.

    thanks again.

Yep... if you want to double check everything is working properly, enable something that does some action without there needing to be an ad (for example have it fallback to display "Your Ad Here" or something).

You have control over which ads are shown on your site... as a publisher, you approve all ads people create to run on your site before they actually run. You can see all the ads people have created for your site here: http://advertising.digitalpoint.com/publisher.php?do=review&show=all

You can test the whole process if you want by becoming an advertiser for your own site: http://advertising.digitalpoint.com/advertiser.php?do=addsite You can create ads, and you will see how they show up for approval on your publisher side (you don't need to fund anything to create ads for approval).

If you want to get more advertisers quicker, I would let users on your site know they can advertise. That is where the bulk of your advertisers will come from since they already have an interest in your site.

It's a tool for your existing advertisers more than anything. If you don't have people wanting to advertise on your site already, it's not going to be of much use.
