Did this dude actually pay $100 for this question? what the? http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview?id=469343
Not a chance somebody pays a 100bucks for that...if they know about asking for ?'s on google---I would guess they would know how to use it as well... that said---a few years ago I worked as a manager in a cell-center setting (off shore) and some of the questions were so dumb that the people who spoke English as their 2nd language needed help- as they figured there was no way somebody could ask such a question.
I think it must take some time to reflect in google search... how much time it takes google to crawl its own answers site? any idea?
Anybody came up with any results in this... after some testing? I am benefited a little bit. With my site reference given in google answers, google bot found a backlink to that site.
I last heard this idea around the begining of 2003 and thought it had died a natural death. I just checked the robots.txt as I did then and it hasn't changed... User-agent: * Disallow: /answers/search?q= - Michael
I typed a question related to my site. One of the comments had my site's url in it! However, this has never shown up as a backlink or has it brought in any visitors, much less helped me in the serps. This looks like another Google myth
See the link now: The requested content is no longer available. It has been removed by a Google editor.
They lurk everywhere Google is a topic of conversation and sometimes but not often they edit the serps by hand http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&...swers/threadview?id=469343&btnG=Google+Search - Michael
See you posted in one of my questions as well doider. ;] But true it doesn't seem to have any impact at all.
my site is pretty new... I thought to test this and put a comment with site link... and I could see the google search result for "carmenelectra.cjb" text as Google Answers: Celebrities who Dance to stay in shape ... For Carmen Electra pics and DVDs about Aerobics' lessons, check this out http://carmenelectra.cjb.net Regards, Maverick ... If I search by only "carmenelectra" I might see it somewhere, but there are 1000s of sites with that text ahead of me so prolly I would not take those many efforts to browse thru all. Any way to find that out easily?
Crazy Rob, Why do you say that? I have submitted answers to try to help people and have had transactions and business because of it. I wouldn't say it doesn't work, not by a long shot. Is it great, no, but it does work. Maybe not for the SE's, but for business...
Whether or not the backlinks help, or the content helps SERP, it's a nice place to troll for new business... I just found a couple questions where I could post comments that are related to my business. Thanks for the pointer...
Fair enough, but then I think the jury is still out on that. It could take some time and almost all their pages get crawled an indexed. We'll have to wait and see
