For a domain name, what is the Maximum amount of hyphens you would consider? from a NON SPAM point of view, so that the Search engines find it acceptable...

and so your site position will not get affected by including them ?

    2? 3? 4?

    For example...
    www.i-love-coffeeandtea.com (2 hyphens)

    www.I-love-coffee-andtea.com (3 hyphens)

    www.i-love-Coffee-and-tea.com (4 hyphens)

How many MAX would you advice?

+ anyone speaking from experience, or using LOADS? Please share your experience....

I can't speak from experience, but a hyphen is just another character in a domain. They are seen as spaces. The amount of them should be irrelevant to your SERPs.

I am not sure how many the search engines care about, but I do not think from a user's standpoint (or marketing standpoint) that using too many (or maybe any) hyphens is a good practice. For me it makes the site look a little spammy because about 95- 99% of all sites that use more than one hyphen in the URL that are submitted to one of my directories are really just made for Adsense sites of low quality. Just my 2 cents.

Either do all the spaces as hyphens or none of them.

I think staying with two and below is safest. Too much doesn't read right anyway..
