I am about to pick a domain name, is it a GREAT advantage if i use a popular keyword (high monthly searched) in my domain, as far as positioning for 'that' keyword is concerned? Will that benifit me Greatly as far as getting high ranked in SE's, for the keyword in the domain (eg keyword= 'grow tomatoes') ? (assuming that all my content pages are SE optimized per their keywords) or could i just name my site anything i want, aslong as my pages are optimzed, then they will stil rank high ? so it doesnt matter ? Eg site topic- Tomatoes - which i have picked 1000s of keywords for, related to it, should i use, www.grow-tomatoes.com (GROW TOMATOES = a high term) Or just somthing which i want www.growing-Veg-tips.com for example a)Is it a MAJOR benifit to include the keyword in the Domain name ? b)will it have MAJOR impact on my ranking, for the keyword 'growing tomatoes'
have your keyword in your domain can be helpful. When people link to your site using just the url, your keyword is included in the anchor text you don't want to use a url with a lot of hyphens because it looks spammy. Get the keyword in your domain if you can and try to stick to one hyphen if possible
If your domain is an exact match to your primary keyword phrase you do get some major benefit in Google. It's also much easier to get links with your keywords in them. For example, coolipods.com will get links with 'cool' and 'ipods' in the anchor text quite naturally. SEO ranter's advice is good too.
how about italianhomerecipes.com....i am using easy italian recipes as my primary keyword......is this considered good for SEO?...will this help me with SE rank?...OVT is 1191 on this keyword any thoughts?
It is certainly helpful but it is less important nowadays. Do any search term, and most of the top 10 results won't have the keyword in the url.
It is very helpful... It will serves as your anchor text and easy to remember whenever users search for your keyword...
Keywords in domain name helps to get a better ranking but it also depends on how you optimized your site.
Off course keyword in domain help to rank good on SE but this only a factor in many factors of SEO. You can’t totally relay on domain, you have to work on good link building campaign. If you are thinking only of SEO then it is fine but one more thing I would like to mention here. Is you domain name appeal to your target audience because most keyword domains really don’t make a positive Impression on visitors. And visitors really can’t remember them, even you will face a problem of Brand establishment. Think if Ebay.com is name as Shopingcart.com These are my views lets see what others says.
Keywords definitely help for branding. You don't have to have them for ranking as much though because with proper SEO you can still rank for the keywords you target.
