Have you used 99designs.com before? What has your experience been?

I really like the "bid" model so that I can get a bunch of options, and I wanted to know if anyone has had any experiences. I'm looking for a logo design and wordpress template design, and don't want to be locked down to one designer, per se.

Any pro's and con's to this site?

Never bothered with it , they keep hunting me by Google ads thou . Looks like a place where you will invest a lot of time in creating a good design and you are quite likely to be copycated , loose your work , loose your time and get nothing out of it .

I had a client run a logo contest on 99 designs. Really long story here but I can tell you the following....

We ran a contest for a logo and no one saw it. We spent more cash(over 100 dollars) to feature it and it we immediately started getting very high level work. Way past stuff you see here.

At the end of the day it cost around 400 dollars which comes in about 1000 dollars less than if I put my internal illustrator on it(guy has like 50 years of experience)

Here is what a contest looks like.... http://99designs.com/logo-design/contests/take-brand-global-logo-53156

I picked #100 but I am still totally stoked with what we did and site does in fact go global in a few days......

My only weird notion here is that if you drop the cash to get proper work its actually way more taxing to pick one then you would think lol...

    hope that helps,
    Nigel

    sometimes I join 99design contests.

There are lot's of good designers there. Just make sure to give feedback on the designs.

It's good for clients but not good for designers.

Clients always win with the design, while many designers were lost without any $ because it's a contest.
