Take this thread as an example http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=673462 They're trying to sell hosting with a 99.9% uptime. If you do some math you will see that this means it's down for a little over a minute and fifteen seconds per day (on average I suppose ). Thats ten minutes a week, almost nine hours a year
keep in mind that 99% or 96%+ range is actually a good uptime for proxies servers but for non-proxy hosting, it is another story.
erm...most of the hosting provider just said that 99.9% uptime guaranteed but the real story is scary
Good webhosting firms like hostmonster.com don't bother mentionning it... I guess that 3 hours/months is OK (that more than 99% lol).
True! The quality can't be measured in %'s however. You're either satisfied or not. And if my site is down 6 hours a month I lose more than I pay for the webhosting.
To me it's only pure "advertisement." If someone buys it, he can tell if what it says is accurate or not. He'll never know until he tries. but if you're concerned, try Googling it and look for the feedback of those who tried their service.
