Rebecca: the problem with the "joke" above is that I have never been called "kike"; nor have I been gassed as one by a nazi - two words that share the page on your joke site.

Nor have I been lynched, nor have I been firebombed as a "nigger." But the word is, very much is, a word that is the watchword for these evil things. Its history is a history of bald violence, a loaded, national tragedy.

I remember the conversations you and I shared when Menj was referring to the RAWA women as "bitches" and "whores." I'd like to suggest: it may be good to remember that not everything passes. It is right to stand for some things. This is one I happen to hold close, enough to judge someone else for using it in veiled contempt for another, simply on the basis of their race.

As sickening as this attack is, your attitude is worse. In a democracy, it is not my right, or yours to carry out justice. What if i had a concealed weapon and figured you'd done wrong? I'm not condoning the attack in anyway, infact as the victim states, the real cure to the problem is for the attacker to get a job and make something of himself, not receive instant punishment from vigilantes.

As for words, it's disgraceful to ban any words or opinions, no matter what you think of them.

I believe MattUK is talking about the closet racists on this board that are trying to use this incident as a cover for a reason to express their racism with the use of a well known racist word.

There are closet racists who hide behind terms like "zionism" and "israel" to mask their anti-semitism. Some are anti-Christian too. And some of those never seem to have a bad word with some religions.
