90 days and do not notice the dirt on the door anymore...

    Friends;
    I am trying to locate the source and accurate data for a "fact" I heard...That after 90 days (or some period of time) we become accustomed to something and do not "see" it any longer...Like a fence that needs painting..or a sign. It is often applied to justify using banners...crate a new stimulus to draw attention. I thought it was a Westinghouse study. The reference is that it is better to seek outside help than always rely on internal resources.. for say an audit.
    Can someone please help me with the source and exact reference? My Google searches have been of no help!
