$9.99 logo/banner contest!

I need a logo and banner for my website. (daxueyingyu.com)

The logo should be 177*63. Actually, the height is more important than the width. The width is flexible, but the current logo is just 177*63. I would also like a banner, which can simply be the same as the logo, but then with a phrase such as "Everything about China in English" or "Ni chi le ma?" I guess if there is enough space, the logo can also contain such a phrase.

The name of the website is daxueyingyu.com, and for short I use DXYY. If you look at the logo I currently have, it is actually DXY and then a bigger Y in the background. This is what I designed previously, but because of my limited picture editing skills/software, I was unable to make a clear contrast between the letter. If possible, I would like something like that done for the logo and banner.

My website has an emphasis on China, but all of the content is in English. Some things have also been translated to Chinese, but English is the primary language.

The winning combination of the logo/banner will be paid $10 via paypal. Also, because I envision wanting redesigns in the future, if you win this contest, you will have a better chance of working with me in the future. IF you have knowledge of SMF, Pligg or Gallery, then I really hope you will enter this contest, as I will have many things for you to do in the future if you are interested. Whoever I pick as the winner must grant me full rights to the images. The contest will continue until I select a winner, but I'm hoping to wrap things up before this Friday.

Please do not use the website's name for your filenames.

Also, I prefer if all questions are asked in this thread so that I don't have to answer the same things twice. I hope I didn't forget to say anything. Let's get the contest started. Jia you!! (hehe, it means 'come on' in Chinese)

Possibly the worst thing I've ever done, but my mind is completely blank right now so...

 

Nick, whereas your design fits nicely with the website, you didn't quite get the DXYY right. If possible, I would like the DXYY to be DXY in the foreground, with a bigger Y in the background, the way I currently have it on the website.

Also, I would like to have some 'Chinese characteristics' in the logo if that is feasible.

i didnt have much ideas about the 'Chinese characteristics' so this is what i made,

 

Hmm, maybe something like a white dragon on the side might look really nice. I have a picture you might be able to use. Check out the forum from my signature, or I'll PM you in a bit.

 

These are definitely better than your first one, but I think blue hues would be a better fit for my website.

This one is not bad, but I'm really liking the blue letter with the black background entries from Nightvision and pixel dynamics.

I like this one as well. Instead of the Chinese character, I would prefer a picture of sorts. If you would like to use characters though, please consider: 大学英语
