Do you honestly believe that America would have made the kind of commitment it did in regards to Iraq without the public backing it? How did the American public get so gung ho with Iraq? It was due to sentiment after 9/11.Do you not agree that 9/11 gave Bush the green light he needed to go as he did in Iraq?

 

I agree entirely OBL was (most likely) the driving force behind the 9/11 and that totally set the mood to get revenge. I wanted revenge for it too. But, the fact that America went and spent so much on messing around so much, can not be blamed on OBL. That was all about making the best of an opportunity.

FTR: I have seriously thought about which side I want to win and it is USA all the way. No matter how bad our side is we could not come anywhere near turning into what we're fighting against, plus we need the oil to keep the world on the improve. Financing the Islamic state to take over should not be considered AT ALL. However the way they went about it was totally fucked up imho. I'm on America's/Allies side here, albeit I think it could have been done much more humanely, and still should be. We shouldn't be glossing over the horror of it all. People are still dying needlessly every single day.

may I add, next time they do that shit - I RECKON AN ATOM BOMB WILL DO THE JOB PROPERLY, QUICKER AND CLEANER.

Your sentiment while sweet sounding and poetic is not realistic.There is far more evil than good in the world.More suffering than laughter.All we mere mortals can do is to try and make our little pathetic corner of the world bearable.I do,and my friends laugh as I do.But......that's just my corner of the world which is tiny.

 

Now here's where we part on our thinking, I think the opposite of that.

We've had a lot more A bombs drop since then. Muraroa saw many many more. I agree it would not be good and is probably too simplistic but I think it would be best all round, or don't do it at all. A small A bomb targeted with precision I wouldn't argue with.

FTR: I do have a theory those bombs knocked us off our normal axis & changed our seasons (slightly more each year) & is now seen as "climate change". A good bomb dropped in the right spot just might get us back...

Thanks lol, we see what we look for. I've seen a lot of bad but also seen a lot of good come out of it. If you go looking for bad you will find plenty and exactly the opposite works too. I think our cynical world is geared up to look for the bad in everything rather than the good. However, both are as arbitrary as each other imho.

I think he claimed to be one. I don't think he said he's Christian just to get votes .. many republicans are Christians.

 

Contrary to popular believe, the ones considered founding fathers were not Christian for the most part. But these days it seems to be a must to claim Christianity to be elected. Which makes me wonder how much of what Christianity teaches those guys truly believe and how much of it is simply an act to ensure that the religious right considers the candidate legit, approved by god and what have you.


Historically speaking no kingdom could ever sustain itself without the support of the church, which is why Henry VIII created his own religion (Anglican church) and why communists made sure there was no religious opposition.


I have a tough time believing any politician when speaking about faith.
