I've got a pretty big flag, I guess that makes me more patriotic than most. Kind of like how my big truck makes me a big man.

    A Sad Day,G-D Bless America.
I have an American Flag in my house,it shines all year long.
What is worrying is the amount of people that use this day to attack America and Bush.
G-D Bless The United States,We WILL NEVER FORGET.

The holiday was created to memorialize those who lost their lifes in the towers/planes and has nothing to do with patriotism, so why is it called patriot day.

So people can "celebrate" this day instead of keeping a moment of silence, lighting a candle, saying a prayer. By the time people won't remember what they are celebrating, we will have Patriot Day sales, fireworks and hallmark cards.
OP, this is not the 4th of July.

Agreed. People around here are acting like it's a holiday. There is a fireworks show tonight on the far side of town. However, there is a protest on campus I would have liked to have gone to. But, I am nearly deathly afraid of driving around campus with some many people just walking into the street when they don't have a walk signal.

Let's not make this a thread of arguments and bickering.

Regardless of your personal feelings today should be reserved for those who lost their life and them only.

I made short post to show my appreciation here.

But why? what makes those 3000 more important that they deserve an entire day, Thousands die each day from starvation or as innocents in a war torn country, wheres their "memorial day". Im not saying those 3000 deaths isnt bad but I am saying its wrong that we focus on those 3000 deaths that happened 6 years ago while millions die each day prematurely right now.

@whomever sent me a grey rep calling me a prick, think before you call names, I have gone to war to prevent anymore people dying because of 9/11, After you go to war and see countless people die under your care or a friends care and what it does to them and you. Then you can tell me how you feel about their being a holiday called patriot day that was initially created to memorialize those that were murdered and one year after the memorial days creation bush changed it to patriot day and it essentially turned into a giant barbq.

It's a national holiday. A holiday isn't a day where we light fireworks and open gifts. Read a dictionary...or possibly a calender. It is actually a holiday.

Doesn't "Happy Patriot's Day" sound like a holiday melbel was reffering to?
Either it's commemorating or celebrating something, it will become just a commercial holiday soon.

I just don't think it's a day to "party." That's what I meant by the word holiday. Read the context. People around here are acting like September 11 is just the most awesome thing to come around and are selling miniature American flags, face paint, and fireworks as if it's the 4th of July. I'd just think that a commemoration of Sept. 11 would be a bit more somber. I don't celebrate the anniversary of my grandmother's death with a party... "Go dead grandma!!!"

"Happy Patriot's Day" doesn't sound like something I would want to say. I just am not "happy" with Sept. 11

Furthermore, if you want to get technical... the "celebration" of Sept. 11 is called Patriot Day. Patriots' Day commemorates the anniversary of the start of the Revolutionary War.
