8pt or 10pt?

    Hello, I need some feedback.

I'm trying to decide which font size is best suitable for the audience.

A.) Hello, welcome to DigitalPoint Forums.
B.) Hello, welcome to DigitalPoint Forums.

    Well? Choice A or B?

I'm more towards choice A because it saves space and it looks more professional/neater in my opinion. But I'm worried that most people will have a hard time and strain on their eyes when they read my content.

    Your opinion?
    Thanks.

If you look at webs, you will see more people use ten for most things other than footers etc. Main text is larger than 8 pt.

It also depends on what font you are using. Some fonts are easier to read at smaller font sizes than others.

Probably 10. Personally I like small fonts but you don't want viewers getting annoyed. Another hting ot keep in mind is that you may have your resolution higher then it should. I know I do. I am using a high resolution on a small monitor so everything is smaller. So I keep in mind that all the text and stuff will be bigger on most peoples computers.

Would go B mate, although A is fine for me to read, not all pple have good eye site, and you could cut allot of users out by not having readably content.

I usually go with size 11.

Size 11 seems to work good also.

Well, 10pt it is. I just really liked 8pt because I think it looks better when it's smaller I guess.

But I want people to be able to read the content! So 10 it is.

    Thanks for everyone's quick response.

8pt may give you a hard time i you have some hundred words to read at this size.

You've gotta be careful with Tahoma. A large number of people do indeed have it installed, but just as many don't as well. Just be sure you offer an alternate in your CSS.

Verdana is a great font, it is the font that CV experts recommend, as it is very easy on the eyes when you read it. I'd go for a 10 point. I don't mind small text below a picture but I think that I would be put off by a full page of it.

I agree with small text as Copyright text, at the bottom of the site.

    Hello, abcdefGARY.
There are several parts in a Web page, and they are not all equal. Different fonts and point sizes are appropriate for each one. The body should be written in a legible font and size, because it is where people will stand most time. A size of 10 points is adequate here. However, other parts such as sidebars could use a smaller size because we are interested in getting much information in little space. Here, 8 points would be fine. If you like Tahoma, go ahead with it, but be careful to include also an alternative. An attribute like "Tahoma, Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" will be in order for your FONT tag or your CSS style sheet.
    Good luck.
