It also depends on the number and what it can reference. ie: 852 is the country calling code (telephone) for Hong Kong, 646 is the area code for NYC. If you can brand a NNN with this in mind it would be worth more than a "random" number. Hong Kong...that is also why the seller referenced macau.com as a comparable.
You can't really compare the name of a country to the country's calling code because the name of a country is a lot more recognizable than a country's calling code. It would have to be compared to something like 310.com or 646.com.
yeah, it will all depend car.com dog.com cat.com are worth zillions But I have seen ppl going crazy in Asia for number only domain names. I am not referring to 777.com or 666.com

Think of it this way..... 0-1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9 (ten digits) 10^3 = All possible combinations of a 3-character, all numbers .com so there are 1,000 total... which in my opinion would make it worth more than a 3 letter .com (if you were branding it towards an area) because there are 26^3 possible 3-character, all letters .coms available so there are 17,576 XYZ.com's available... As you can see, the 3 number is decidedly more rare.
