I have a client who is looking for original logo artwork for a cleaning company based in the New York City Area. Their old logo was an eagle. We are looking for a modern, patriotic red, white and blue logo image including an eagle - all three colors do not have to be used and shades of black or gray within the logo is acceptable. We do not want something that relates to 9/11 or a "screaming" eagle logo similar to those used by athletic teams. The image must be vector based as it will be used for everything from business cards to their van. The logo will also be embroidered on employee work shirts, so please keep that in mind with your designs. No clipart or stock; design must be original. Logo can include just the eagle's head or the entire body. We are looking for one logo without the company name and a matching logo with the name "American Maintenance & Supplies". The font used for "& Supplies" can be smaller than that used for "American Maintenance". Incorporating 5 stars into the design is desired but not a hard requirement. Logos need to be professional and sleek rather than clever or cute. Feedback will be given by my client and all entries must be in by June 19th. Winner will be awarded $85 via PayPal for both logos.
Thank you for your entry! My client would prefer a darker navy blue instead of a royal blue. He's also not sure about the circular design without seeing it with the company name. Also, we would prefer either no stars or 5 stars. He would like for the blue to be the dominant color. I know at one time we talked about red being used more as an accent color than a primary color.
Here's the feedback... Please switch what's currently red to blue and what's currently blue to red - the red is too dominant as you have it now. Could you try out two colors that my client found in another logo and thinks he would like - the RGB values are as follows red is R-237 G-23 and B-76 and the blue is R - 0, Green - 50 and Blue - 99? He's not entirely sure if he likes them but would like to see how they look on at least one of the designs. He likes the designs where the eagle breaks free from the circle and prefers the one in post 6 slightly over the one in post 7. Could you use a serif font like Times New Roman for the lettering? Could you try a half circle of 5 stars over the top of the word American too? Placement up to you but maybe have one star work as the dot over the "i". And finally, we were wondering if you could change the eagle head to have the sharply defined feathers like you used in post 7 with the beak, eyes and the face looking slightly up like you had in the first design?
Hello everyone. Since I've last posted, there has been one entry submitted via private message. Not my preference but since we did not preclude them in the initial contest announcement we will accept them. However, we will describe the entry enough to allow other designers to benefit from our feedback. Comments to everyone. We're still trying to narrow down the red. The client is happy with the blue (Red - 0, Green - 50 and Blue - 99) but has directed me towards a Wikipedia article saying he would maybe like to see "Rosso Corsa" [Hex triplet #D40000 RGB (212, 0, 0)] or "Venetian Red" [Hex triplet #C80815 RGB (200, 8, 21)] After seeing the logos already submitted, my client believes that he would prefer the eagle to be presented as a "head shot" rather than a full body or in-flight image. ideosmil - My client and I like the design presented in post #10 of this thread the best. At this time, he has no further suggestions. Please feel free to submit another concept if you have the time. PM Submitter - (This submission included an eagle head on the left with 5 red stars slightly away from the bird and cascading from the top of the head and ending slightly above the base of the bird's neck. It has the text on the right side of the eagle head which is about half as tall as the eagle's head.) My client thinks your eagle is a bit "mean" looking and slightly harder to recognize as being the head of an eagle as opposed to another bird of prey. He is intrigued by the idea of the star placement but it seems to push your text down a bit. The text also seems a bit overpowered by the larger sized eagle head and stars. The name of the company is "American Maintenance & Supplies" not "American Maintenance and Supplies". Thank you both for your submissions. If anyone has any additional questions please post in the thread or PM me. This contest will end on the 19th.
Thank you everyone for the great designs! Here's the feedback from my client, mainly his own words... For everyone - Overall, I’m looking for something traditional I guess since this is a traditional type company compared to something more creative. I would like the graphics to be crisp and have a silhouette look to it. Don’t worry too much if it will transfer to embroidery, if the logo is good and not overly complicated, we can find a way to make it work. For example, if fancier stars can make the digital design nicer, we can just simplify them when it comes to the embroidery. j0opre - Post #12 – Nice quality artwork but I see an angry athletics eagle with horns maybe? The red is not pink or orange which is good. The design around is nice but may be too complicated when it goes on a shirt. Also looks like for more of a mechanical company. The font is plain, I’m more of a serif fan as long as it’s not too much. suke - Post #13 – The artwork is nice but is too similar to ideosmil's work. The font looks a little rounded and plain. The blue is nice. On the second entry, the background looks a little too Clip Art – ish and the font is too pointy knique - Post #14 – I like the idea of this post, would like a more Serif font. The blue should be darker, this looks royal. You have the concept down of logo can be separate of text, but it still looks fine with it. Love the concept of your eagle, but not this eagle since it looks like its shielded or something like protective gear around it. The shooting stars are a good thought but they don’t look too professional. It could be spruced up a bit I think. ideosmil - Post #15 - It looks like the last one. I'm guessing you meant to post one with the new red color suggestions?
This entry was being formed prior to post #16, yes the eagle here is a rough draft as I wanted to get the entry posted The previous entry #14 had the true American Flag RED WHITE AND BLUE.....This entry has the custom color request, I aimed for a proud firm eagle that would become easy and cost effective to imprint, embroider, silk screen, etc 100% vector and can be formatted to fit and choice, in #14 entry placed a sample of the logo on a Cover All, wanted to do some button downs, t-shirts, hats, boots, polos, etc...yet I think we get the feel, attempted to place emphasis on the company name, with a left to right placement with words leading, and using the logo as a remarkable identifier....the image can be tweaked the entry must be understood as a concept, unless American Maintenance & Supplies loves it as is.....I think it would also make a great BUMPER Sticker as a give away or marketing tool ************ Since this post was being done before the feedback got posted on #16, The Serif Font and clean-up of paths and the rising sun or halo around the eagle, will be done on next entry if the contest does not become closed, classical Eagle will make an attempt, and thanks for releasing my mind from crafted the artwork along totally simple embroidery and print modifications...will attempt to get the next edit up ASAP...until then good luck everyone
knique, I absolutely loved that you took the time to put your design on a set of coveralls! To be honest, I didn't want to call too much attention to it for fear folks would focus too much on trying to make their own shirt image and lose sight of the other requirements. Look forward to seeing what else you come up with. As far as I have heard from my client, he wants to see as many designs as possible and has no plans to close the contest prematurely.
I notice the brief request &Supplies as a second line, However from an aesthetic viewing, the Maintenance & Supplies as a byline gives an improved look and greater impact, yet here it is as is....any feedback would be appreciated, thanks.....
