I"m not giving up on this contest! I have more doodles! (I didn't flesh these out because again, I know this contest is subject o end any time and I want to get as many ideas out there as I can for funny/crazy characters!

"Funky Chicken" "Crazy Horse" "Musical Mouse" or uh... that grooving bug guy lol. Any one of these could be further "cooled" and "crazied" however, in interest of time, I have sacrificed some neatness in interest of concept. Maybe that will work against me, I Don't know, but we'll see I just know I've got serious competition!

I stumbled upon this thread accidentally and I just had to defecate on this response. WHAT ARE YOU THINKING??? THE MAN IS PAYING $85, HE GAVE YOU SAMPLES OF WHAT TO EXPECT! ARE YOU BLIND OR RETARDED?

 

This really impressive Tababongchi. BTW Do you use Photoshop in colouring?

Everyone seems to be in love with tab's work. x.x I apparently had a lot longer for a redo of my entry than it sounded darn it!

 

For a reason...

Don't get me wrong, your characters are nice but do you really think, in your mind, that they are better than Tabs?

The only reason I didn't enter this contest was because of Tab's excellent work, they are quality drawings and I know I don't have the skills to compete with his work.

 

I have as many skills as he does. Absolutely I am confident I could do equally quality stuff. These are supposed to e concepts, not finished work. He's paying more for finished/tweaked design later.

Actually, Tab's character which does rock, looks like a bit of a creep lol. I still like him, and design skills are awesome, but I'm saying, I don't think any of us have done exactly what this guy is asking yet. Cause that guy isn't a teen. He looks like an old guy dressed as a teen. (which I think is rather funny).

 

He had him looking young but the dude wanted him to look older, Tab was only following the CH's wishes.

I also personally believe you can't match his work. Then again, maybe you can, but from what you posted in this thread, it doesn't seem like so. Don't get me wrong, your work isn't bad, but it doesn't compare with Tab's IMO.

 

Hahah since I was sort of unofficially challenged, I figure I should do a more polished/finished/thought out design so here is the result. I spent about 30 minutes on it. I was in a hurry to back up my claims. I might be a girl... but I have this male ego thing. If someone even hints at a challenge... I've just got to take them up on it. I'm pretty happy with this. Here's what it has to recommend it:

Furry/anthro characters are pretty popular with artists/teens these days. So I did a furry. Also, the CH asked me to do funny animal characters since that's what he saw in my gallery that he liked. He's got a crazy smile, which lends itself more to the 'crazy' look that the contest holder seeks. The layered clothing look is popular with the teens these days, so I have a long sleeved shirt under the regular tshirt. The hair is semi-emo which is also popular/common. He's got an mp3 player and smaller headphones so they don't look like 80s rejects (even though frankly I find big headphones FUN). I also incorporated the baggy pants thing and some fingerless gloves.

 

I think that some of you have some serious defeatist attitudes! Especially the one who said he wouldn't even bother entering I'm not intimidated by other artists. This is all fun. Though a lot of you have no idea what kind of art I am capable of doing... okay some... but just saying have a little faith Tab's work is good, but nobody is perfect, and yes, I saw what was asked of him by the contest holder and it was the easiest fix to the problem but all I'm saying is it's not perfect. And neither was mine. I am pretty happy with my newest entry, however.

When it comes to art.. it's all a matter of opinion anyhow. Popular folks these days don't wear chains on their wallets and giant 80s headphones. But those two things, and the big ring, do make a fun character. So it might not matter that it's out of date. My attempt was gay the first time around, and sketchy the second, but this one is pretty much right in the middle which pleases me greatly.

Sorry, I feel the need to defend myself with so much "you're great, but, you suck compared to tab" stuff. I realize you aren't my friends and you don't have to butter up your opinions, but hey what can I do? I talk too much when I'm nervous. So I'm gonna quit now.
