Hi, I'm about to get a check from Google. I have to fill form num. 8233, see: http://forum.bgu.co.il/index.php?act=attach&type=post&id=62139. If I'm not an American but currently working at the U.S. Do I need to fill this form or should I fill a different form? If that's the correct form, what option should I choose there? Thanks!
if you are not a permanent US resident, then i think u sign up as a foreign publisher. therefore there should not be a need for filling this form which seems way too complicated. however, you don;t wanna mess with the tax people so i suggest you contact google. btw, when you signed up for AS, did you sign up as a US publisher providing your SSN or signed up as a foreign publisher? and most importantly, this form above doesn't apply to AS publishers anyways as google doesn;t withhold any taxes when they pay their publishers. it is the responsibility of the publishers to pay taxes when they file tax return.
this form is for situation where you are exempted from tax and your employer or whoever pays you deducts tax from the pay. as adsense doesn;t deduct the income tax from your payout, i do not see any reason for filing this form. since you are living in the US now and working with your US SSN, just report the adsense income at the end of the year with your other income (job, etc) and you are fine. btw, i graduated from an US University majoring in accounting and studied tax for solid 2 years but this is just common sense
