OK... here we go again! A logo contest for another venture of mine. Here is a bit of project background that may help formulate a mindset... I have a website development business specializing in Search Engine Optimization & Search Engine Marketing. It is located in Northern, CA in a region known as "wine country." Residents are very conscious of the environment and promote sustainability. I assist Sonoma County business owners with their websites. I need to create a logo that will be suitable for branding across social media channels (e.g., FB, Twitter, etc.) You can see what I have so far on the FB landing page. I am ok with the body of the page, but the logo in the upper-left is what needs work or complete redesign. http://on.fb.me/hFMcs3 It needs to be something more simple and professional looking. Something that lends itself to brand recognition. A bit more on the casual/corporate side. Perhaps consisting of only letters? Color scheme should be similar to existing. For further inspiration and insight, the website is located here: http://bit.ly/eR5obi Keep in mind that I would consider incorporate the winning design into the header/logo area on the main website as well. I am open to creative, professional suggestions and look forward to your questions and designs! Professional entries only - no cookie-cutter stuff, please I will end the contest on Tuesday evening 11-30-2010. Thanks!
Thanks misterbadz for your entry. I like it. However, I could see scaling down the logo so that is not quite so dominating.
Existing tag line is going to go. New tag line can say something like: "geo-targeted website solutions" or "localized website solutions" Black & white images on main website may go as well, so don't worry about them ;-)
I appreciate the effort, but it is way off what I am looking for. Could be a nice wine label ;-) misterbadz is much more on track at this point. From the initial description: 'I need to create a logo that will be suitable for branding across social media channels (e.g., FB, Twitter, etc.)' Think corporate branding. An identity that could also be used on apparel or stationary - flexible - simple, smooth, eye-catching, recognizable & scalable. Could suggest technology embraces local community/businesses. Please, no stock photos in design. Illustration, vector, etc. Thanks!
I knew that, it just went that way, very elegant I feel. No big deal, it was a fun one and I also add all of these contest attempts to my web design portfolio site, helps me to attract more clients, lol. Thanks
Thank you Lady_in_Red. I appreciate the effort, but not close. The "C" must be reverse? Colors look washed. I realize it is a gradient, but wrong for my application. I need to make a statement with the logo. Shouldn't be elegant. Smooth, bold and memorable.
Misterbadz, The 2nd and 4th efforts are good and I am liking the proportions better. However, the last effort would be more meaningful if somehow the letter "S" & "C" could be transformed and wrapped in 3D. Probably not enough room or too complex... Thanks!
Hello puttu, thanks for the effort - way off base though. Font is too funky for this application. Wine glass does not need to be there. A million logos exist here in wine country with wine glasses and grapes. While I may have used that in the original site design, it really doesn't need to be there, which is why I mentioned that the winning logo may replace what I have on the site now. The letter look like they are on a button like I have created in Photoshop many times. Remember... this need to look very clean and professional. The SCW could be combined to form a creative shape... thanks again!
There is one other thing we could try here... keeping the previous points I have made in mind. That is: we could try a retro flair on the logo. Maybe utilize a shape, typeface and or colors from the 1940-1950's advertising era. Could be interesting, as Sonoma County Web advocates local history. In this case, it wouldn't necessarily need to maintain a corporate feel, but still needs to be simple, highly-identifiable and versatile (e.g., used on website, social media channels, stationary, apparel, etc.) What do you think? Someone want to give that approach a go? Thanks!
