Hello guys, About 2 weeks ago i suffered a 80% reduction of the number of conversions for the Firefox Referral program. I keep having exactly the same average of clicks, CTR, type of traffic, visits, everything. I'm writing this here to know if: Anyone else suffered this too? Does someone know if Google changed the way the count the conversions or the landing page they send people to download Firefox? Have any clue why something like this could happen? Thanks in advance!
My FF conversions are roughly the same.. 80% is a huge drop - something's not right .. if it keeps up for more than a few days, i would contact support.
80% was not an exaggeration and yeah, something seems weird. I haven't easily found the support email but I posted at Google Groups. Do you know the email for Adsense Support?
Thanks for your feedback Tearabite. Does anyone have any thoughts on this or experienced something similar?
Jebus Kripes! I guess i spoke too soon! Today i am seeing about a 90% drop in FF referral conversions - something is DEFINATLY wrong. are you still seeing a drop? Did you email Adsense yet?
Sorry to hear that Tearabite Yes, I'm still seeing the drop and I have emailed Adsense but no reply yet. As soon as they do, I'll post it here.
I remember getting an email from google about FF/google pack conversion $ reduction (or no longer pay for) from install in certain countries (China .. and maybe more?). If I remember correctly, it begins near the end of Feb. Not sure if that has anything to do with you.
I think "yyCC" has the answer above. A short while ago Google changed the rules for payout on their own referrals. They now only payout for referrals from a few countries. It depends on where the click comes from. If the person clicking your referral is NOT from one of these countries, you don't get paid. I'm in the UK and I've also noticed a sharp decrease.
I'm experiencing the same thing. The issue with conversions with China took affect during the last week of February. I saw the hit on my stats then -- it was a very small percentage and was consistent with the amount of Chinese traffic to my site. About 2% of the traffic on my site is Chinese, and their average time on the site is 25 seconds. ("Oh, oops, not where I meant to go ...") I suspect I've never gotten many conversions from Chinese users. My conversions are off by about 80% based on numbers of clicks. They're just not being recorded. This does not jive with my stats for country of origin, so it's not just a "we're not recording conversions from certain countries" issue. Slightly less than half of my users are from the US. If they were just paying for and recording US based users, I might see a 50-60% reduction in recorded conversions, but not 80%. The majority of my users come from countries that I would assume to be desirable from an advertising standpoint. (US, UK, Australia, Germany, Canada, are the top five countries for my site -- the total of all five is 65% of my traffic.) This morning looks even worse. I have made $1.60 including Adsense so far today. Let's just say that I generally make significantly more. I am earnestly hoping this is a system issue. -- Leva
98% of my traffic is from the U.S... I posted the issue in the Google Adsense groups and a few others replied that they are seeing the same thing.. Today i'm still down by about 90% or more.. I sent an email to Adsense support asking what's up.. I suggest everyone else do the same so the issue doesn't 'slip thru the cracks' ..
I got an answer saying that they will forward the question to a specialist so still no explanations. I'm sure it has something to do but, same like many of you, I don't even have chinese traffic so I don't really know what's going on.
My FF conversions just went down to 0 from a average of 6/day. @ Tearabite, if you contact support regarding this, I'd like to know the response you get from them.
