    Hi

Actually, don't mean to be bad, but the tips are great, but generalized SEO is not really what Google is after anymore. It goes completely against the grain, but SEO techniques are too slow to incorporate.

I studied popular websites, one being Seth Godin. He is ranked number one with "marketing blog". Yet there is no post which has keywords, they are less that 300 word posts, limited onsite SEO and the main page is links and a graphic. But most people will say "yes, but Seth Godin does know marketing!" true, but he doesn't SEO his site to that fact.

This goes on for any top site that you consider.

So onsite SEO has very little effect to what is needed in search. Google still ranks your backlinks extremely highly- it has to- hence why Seth gets to number 1 in Google, the backlinks are laden with keywords. However if you want to compete with Seth you do not get more links than him. Google also notices the speed at which those links are created and how quick the website posts.

Google compares your site with another one in the same category that you are competing with. If you are getting 1 backlink from 1 post a week and Seth is getting 100 links from 1 post a day, then you are going to be ranked lower than him each and every time.

You have to do the same as your competition. Post more and backlink more, if that is what they are doing.

I have noticed that many people say "get authority sites to link to you" however your competition is also doing the same. Google then has difficulty ranking you against them so it checks on the social scene.

Google then compares the social network. The top sites always have social media. It seems that the more fans, the more Tweets, etc AND are mentioning your name, the higher you rank.

This came from early 2011 studies that Google did in trying to find out how to rank "the best of" books. Google went onto community websites and "authority book websites" and linked author and title. Then it checked online and saw what people were keywording those books with. Some books got more mentions than others and those books rose in ranking and then it was easy for Google to figure out what was "the best". You can easily test this out by typing in "George Lucas" into Google. Star Wars always comes out in the top rankings even though George has done many movies. Online people have tied Star Wars to George.

You want people to popularize your website with the keywords that you want them to know your site for.

Hope this adds to the great list CPY did.
