I thought I'd share a few tips with you guys on how you can increase your blog interactions, especially if you're using Wordpress as a blogging platform, if you can add any more tips please feel free to comment. Tip #1: Go Ahead & Ask For Comments As silly as this sounds, it works! All you have to do is simply ask your readers to leave a comment at the end of each blog post. You could simply write “What do you think? Leave Your Thoughts On This Article Below”. Try to customize every request, and make it unique for each blog post, rather than just generic requests. Tip#2: Always Respond To Every Comment That’s right. Always respond to every comment that has been left by someone. This is a great way to build relationships and communities with other bloggers. It also shows that you’re paying attention and that you care about what people say. I’m not talking about replying back to comments a few days or a week later, you need to reply as soon as possible. Tip#3: Respond In The Correct Manner Following on from the previous tip, always try to respond to any comment left with professionalism and try to keep it more than just a few words. If the comment is a negative one that criticizes what you’ve wrote, then try not to disagree and turn into a blog troll. Remember that everyone has their own thoughts on subjects. This will show your visitors that you welcome divergent opinions. Tip #4: Make The Commenter Feel Good You can create a sense of appreciation to your blog commenters by looking for something smart that they’ve said in the comment and responding to that. Remember that they took the time out of their schedule to leave the comment AND read your post. Making them feel good encourages a better blog community and this in turn will make your visitors feel good about you, your business and your website. Tip#5: Write Controversial Articles This one is an absolutely sure fire way of attracting comments. If you have a strong opinion on a subject or matter, be bold and write it down! Try not to be insulting though, and don’t be controversial in all your blog posts. Also remember that you need to know your limits, because after all, lawsuits can be pretty expensive! Tip# 6: Comment On Other Blogs Yourself This is a great tip to get comments on your own blog. All you need to do is find other blogs that are in your niche and comment on their posts. This will be beneficial to you because most of the time you’ll get people visiting your site in return, which means your articles get found. Again, it’s all about building communities, and when it comes to blogging, nothing is more better than an active community. Tip #7: Make It Easy For People To Comment Avoid using captcha forms that ask people to enter random letters or numbers before they can comment, and limit the amount of fields that visitors have to fill in before they can comment. The default WordPress comment form has a number of fields that potential commenters have to fill in BEFORE they can comment, such as name, email, website etc. This is great for stopping spam, but not so great if you want to encourage comments on your posts. The only fields you really need are first name, email address and the actual comment box. You can go one better by adding a “Log In To Facebook” button which allows people to click a button and log in using their Facebook account, drastically reducing the time it takes to comment. You can use a custom WordPress Comment Plugin to help you achieve this. Tip #8: Build An Email List As the old saying goes, the money is in the list! Offer something free in return for your visitors email address, such as an ebook or special report, and add a “Subscribe To Newsletter” tick box in your comment form which will give your visitors the option of not only being able to comment on your posts, but also to sign up to your newsletter. Then, whenever you write a new article, you can inform your subscribers, which will send traffic to every new post you submit. The more traffic you get to your blog, the more chance you’ll have of people leaving comments and replies. Using the above tips and advice will guarantee that your WordPress blog will become a hive of activity and interactions in the future, but remember to always try to offer value in every single post you write. The REAL key to success with your blog is how informative your posts are. The more value you offer, the more people will be inclined to respond to your articles.
