Reality check 2: Most of the new free directories you submit to will change to another type of site, be parked, or just have the domain dropped within a year. Over 1/2 of the directories I submitted to a year ago are no longer in existence. It is probably not worth paying for a directory that has not been around for at least a year.
Today is probably the BEST time to start a directory as you have plenty of time to build up backlinks for the next PR update. But regardless of the fact ... it's not a race to get as many backlinks as possible.... to create a really good directory you need to invest in quality backlinks ... Quality is always going to be better than quantity.... Just my 2 cents worth Cheers .... Gerald.
Yeah me too, I thought it was discouraging users. But great 8 reasons, its more like opposite 8 qualities you need to have to make a successful directory.
I agree with the poitn that you need to start a unique directory but it's hard to say that dont start dir with the intention to earn a lot of money. Money can be a motive for the owner to improve their dir and make it better. and it's some kind of payout after hardworks. so i think that kind of thinking should be acceptable.
