Nobody decided nothing. There are just 3 types of organisms with a certain cell structure, plants, fungi and animals. You are one of the three, unless you have another type of cell structure. In that case you will be a bacteria or blue-green algae.

 

Maybe he would concede to being an organism rather than an animal - but again the point (this thread) is only mankind is beastial so why is being a "Man" a proper distinction over being an Animal....

It seems quite hypocritical that in several countries it's illegal to have sex with animals, but it's still legal to eat animals... slaughtering and eating them surely is a much greater evil.

 

I think its more likened to what is more humane.

For one, animals may likely suffer being sexual abused, more than humanely killed.

Humans rely on animals to eat and clothe themselves. They do not rely on animals for copulation.

Its less about what is right/wrong, legal or illegal, moral or immoral than it is about survival.

 

I wasn't really thinking of sexual abuse though, but of consensual sex. I'm not sure there is a humane way of killing humans or animals.

We don't need to eat animals to survive, and we have many materials that we can use for clothing, so that we don't need to kill animals.

Actually we do need to consume animals to survive. We have since the beginning of time and continue to do so.

We probably inherited the canine teeth from some earlier lifeforms, and they were used for eating meat, until we became intelligent enough to survive without meat.

Dogs for example. In my country (Sweden), the law says that it's legal to have sex with animals if they consent.

There are many vegetarians who survive just fine without meat. In India especially, people have been vegetarians for thousands of years, probably because of their religion (Hinduism).
