I disagree. So I give to you my own list. 8 Reasons SEOs shouldn't be reading blogs all day. 1. Backlinking is still backlinking 2. Content is still king 3. PR will do it's own thing regardless of how much we talk about it 4. Truly new tactics are never shared on blogs 5. Twitter is cool, yes, we know 6. Facebook is a good place to make money, yes, we know 7. Article marketing is nothing new 8. There are approximately 500 more important things you could be doing
I agree, great blogs but I wouldn't read them daily. It would confuse you with "news" based tips that will prevent you from actually staying focused and using what works. Only a couple of things change throughout the year I find that are worth reading about and applying to your projects, a lot of SEO remains the same, back links are the biggest things that get talked about and which platforms to link from.
good content and content related search engine friendly link building always stands out of the crowd.
SEOMoz is great because they provide easy to understand information and it's all backed by an enormous amount of data they collect themselves. The other one is good, but this is the only one I read religiously. It's not really about new tactics, it's about actually knowing how the engines work in as much detail as possible. Getting educated on there is way more valuable than being spoon fed any common tactics.
You have a valid point. But You might be missing out in the new small piece of information that might make the difference. Yes, Don't waste all day reading blogs, but may be a a quick skimming out will let you keep you on track.
@guineapirate: I have to agree. Who has the time to chase down 'other' SEOs to find out what they are doing. I do however watch online seminars and listen to SEO rockstars and the likes when I can. Other than that though I'm over the top swamped with my own plate to worry about others. Or care. Just my 2 cents.
...and like WhiteGyr said...writing content. Loads of content. "It's hard out here for a copywriter."
