Youngstown Community members and elected officials want criminals to know senseless violence won’t be tolerated after another elderly resident was gunned down in broad daylight. Thomas J. Repchic, 75, and his wife, Jacqueline A. Repchic, 74, were driving near the intersection of Philadelphia Avenue and Southern Boulevard when someone in a red Dodge Durango opened fire, killing him and wounding his wife, police said. Six to 12 shots were fired at the couple’s Cadillac about 1 p.m. Saturday, according to police reports. Jacqueline Repchic is in St. Elizabeth Health Center, Youngstown. Her condition wasn’t available Sunday evening. Family members declined to comment Sunday evening. Mayor Jay Williams issued a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever is responsible for the city’s 17th homicide of 2010. Williams said he hopes the reward will be an incentive for someone to step forward. “Hopefully this will cause an individual with knowledge to come forward immediately. Someone knows who did this,†he said. “It’s just not something we’re going to tolerate. If the reward serves as a motivation, so be it.†Williams said he’s sickened by Saturday’s shooting. “The actions that transpired were absolutely reprehensible,†he said. “There’s no reason on Earth that this should have happened to two truly innocent victims.†Reports have said just before the shooting, the couple left nearby St. Dominic Church, 77 E. Lucius Ave., where they are members. Jacqueline Repchic also answers phones in the parish office on Saturdays, said the Rev. Gregory Maturi. The church parking lot was the site of the Jan. 23 murder of 80-year-old Angeline Fimognari. Jamar Houser, 19, of Youngstown, is charged with aggravated murder with a death-penalty specification and aggravated robbery in that case. This is horrific!!! I stay across the street from the murder site with my family we drive have to drive by their everyday going to school. What a crying shame Y-town will never change...
they're old enough that can't even kick above 3 inches. the shooter wouldn't have to use gun to kill these two.
