Contest $75 Logo Contest - WP Update Engine - 5 day Contest

Hi Guys

Background: I'd like a new logo designed for a premium WordPress plugin that I'm developing. The plugin allows any premium plugin developer to allow their customers to automatically update their premium plugins using the normal WordPress updater tool, whilst respecting usage licences.

What I need:

• A brand new logo featuring the text: "WP Update Engine"
• A unique icon/graphic for the logo, which goes next to the text
• An example of the icon/graphic without the text for use as a 32px x 32px and 16px x 16px icon
• Ideally designed as a vector graphic
• Colours: any colours are ok, I typically prefer blues/oranges, but feel free to use anything you like.
• Logo should be bold and interesting. Example logos are those used for any of the products by iThemes.com: http://ithemes.com/

What you get:

• $75 for the winning design, paid by Paypal
• Lots of feedback on your designs so that you can refine them
• 5 Day Content - Finishes 7pm GMT on Monday 13th August

Important not:
Please DO NOT include the official WordPress logo, I'm not permitted to use it in any way.

A great start and definitely a strong and unique logo, thanks. I'd like the text to be to the right of the logo itself.
I like bold fonts, and prefer what you used for WP rather than "Update Engine".

I can see what you're doing with the logo, but it's a little abstract currently. I was hoping for a picture including a cog, engine, or something related to Engines....

Thanks for the entry. Definitely bold and branded, but not keen on the choice of fonts. They're a little too thin. I really like bold fonts. A nice choice of cogs, but it's not quite as complex a design that I was thinking...

3D is a great idea. The text is lovely and bold, but hard to read as being 1 word. Good that the text and image is on one single line. It's "Update Engine" too

I was hoping for a little more complexity to the graphic... see earlier examples of logos I like.

A distinctly more advanced logo than before, thanks. The 2 different types of cog look a little odd, perhaps just stick to the top one? (It's simpler). A much better font too

I like your colour choices, unfortunately none of the designs really appeal to me (sorry). It's also tough to imagine without the WP Update Engine text too.

Nice choice of font, looks better on a dark background than a light background. Just realised, it looks a little too similar to the Firefox logo!! It might present a copyright issue...

Thanks for your entry. I'm really sorry, the logo doesn't use enough colours for me. Sadly the icon image just doesn't work for me, nor does the font.

Really nice choice of font for 'update engine', and great style too. The logo design is very good, but the 'WP' doesn't quite work.

To All: THank you for the designs so far. Would love to see some colours other than orange/blue...

Oops, missed this one. Much nicher font and definitely looks simpler with the simpler logo. It's not quite there, but something on that theme is good. No need to limit yourself to orange and blue, I've said that any other colours are welcome.
