Hello DP! I'm running the site you can see in my signature. It's a football site that covers news, rumors and gossip from the football transfer market. It's been live since late October 2009 and last month ( January 2010 ) it received following traffic: Visitors: 3k Uniques: 1279 Now you have a little info on what my site provides to the audience and how it's doing traffic wise etc. What I'm looking for now is your ideas on how I can promote/market/upgrade it with my following budget, which is $75-90. I have the following ideas: - Buy ad place(s) on related sites - Get a custom theme made for it ( have another budget for this ) - Expand with more leagues to cover ( Will do that anyways ) - Hire or team up with more writers - Contest - Social community promotion on facebook etc got IDEAS? Tips & Tricks? - share and tell Feel free to offer your services as well! Thanks in advance! - kenny
- Get a custom theme made for it,Expand with more leagues to cover and Social community promotion on facebook etc, these three are good and I think you will benefit from them. And also try to get more backlinks of your website.Things will be better soon.Come on.
You can try to contact with some not well known football players and try to make an interview about some football club. This information will very usefull and uniqe.
I would say StumbleUpon marketing (http://www.stumbleupon.com/ads/). You need to have an understanding of the market you're trying to target, but it's only $0.05/visitor and each is a unique StumbleUpon user.
My first thought would be that it could use a forum of its own. My second thought is that you should join every soccer/football forum out there, and post with your site in your sig. If you have a small budget you could go on e-lance and find a football fan to post to forums, too. Don't spam the forums, but participate regularly. Create a giveaway of something, and use that in your sig files, and collect emails?
Blow the lot on business cards and/or flyers. Come time for a big football game, get yourself around to the big bars where all the games are being watched and/or outside the venue and start handing them out. This is a very competitive market place on the internet so the personal touch is important here! It's cold as fuck this time of year but it is nice to get away from the computer screen sometimes!
kenny i think i would get into a bunch of chat rooms that are football releatd and than ask a question does any one know were i can find what ever service you are offering than go back in latter and answer your question telling eveyone about this great site you found and whats its benefits are and how to find it. you might type in free advertising on the internet and see what you come up with you might also try advertising free or low cost newspapers. another avenue is have some go buy a small fish bowl and offer a drawing for a free lunch if people put a card in there with there e-mail address than after you get the e-mails send out info about your site. I suggest you do this at a sports bar.. One other suggestion is put your web addrss on the bottom of every e=mail that you send out.. I hope this helps you out....Big_Un
you have a unique niche.. I would say spend your money on SEO for lasting value... going after the long tail keywords will help you off the ground..
Try to go for advertising in sports mags sites, football forums in the form of signature links, etc. You may want to buy ad spots in popular sites where sports people / people interested in football congregate on the web. using twitter, search for mentions of 'football' and answer their questions directing them to your site.
1. Advertise on reddit. 2. Hire people to do blog commenting 3. Hire writers to submit articles to Ezinearticles and other high-traffic article directories.
Thanks a lot for the ideas and suggestions so far folks. Got a few pointers here that I will definitively try to work out. Meanwhile I mock up my master plan - keep the ideas coming. thx & cheers! - kenny
Great info guys. I can also apply most of the stuff here on my website, it happens to also be in the football niche.
Run some contests and promote the contests, you could contact some football teams and request signatures and fan packs for free then have them as the prizes. Promote the contests on websites about that specific team you have a prize for. This will get you some decent traffic plus people will return to your site if you have a regular contests.
you can buy my blogging software that will expand your niche and makemoney from it. pm me for more info
