I started a cooking-related blog on 03/24/07. I'm doing fairly well on Google when you type in the phrase "cooking blog" my blog is 182 out of 511,000... I'm on the 19th page, out of a zillion... I think. Feedburner tells me I have 71 subscribers. Since I'm so new to this,(better late than never) I have no idea if that is good or bad. Your thoughts on this are welcome. Merry
Those are very good results for a blog that's less than a month old. Now you gotta work on getting some links in from higher PR sites so that you can rank higher in the search results. Your Feedburner number is excellent too - it basically shows that your content so far has hooked in quite a number of regular readers. Best of luck in your continuing efforts!
yeah that is really good you seem to be on the way to owning a killer blog. Just keep building on that success by establishing relationships with other good cooking bloggers and the links will follow. nice job and best of luck.
Thats a real good number in first month. Also you can keep an eye on your feed circulation trend using this tool.
Thank you for the encouragement. I am already SO addicted to this. I wish there were 72 hours in a day! Merry
What's your site, and how did you get the word out? I agree with autorave, those are VERY impressive numbers. The site in my sig had about 20 or 30 at that point (which I thought was good), and by the 6 month mark had over 1200. So you really have the potential to get much larger. Stick to it, and ask if you ever have any questions ... there's lots of experienced bloggers here.
Yes! I agree! That's great. congratulations, some blogs with more than 3 months old have less than 20 subscribers.
Thats a good number keep working..You will see some great results..What i have noticed that once you cross about 500-600 subscribers visitors look at your blog as a "Must subscribed" blog. I got around 20-30 first month and then it went on rampage.. My blog is 4 months old with 2000 + subscribers.
For the most part, I posted in forums. I have been commenting on cooking-related blogs, as well. I just found out, though, that most of my comments won't give me a backlink because of the 'no follow attribute'. So, I'm kind of bummed. But, the good news is I activated a plug-in that will allow those who post comments on my blog, to get the linkback. My site is http://www.merryskitchen.com Merry
@Merry: Don't be bummed - the "nofollow" policy is unfortunately in most blogs, especially Wordpress ones. But don't stop commenting either. That still advertises your URL to the readers of that blog and the blog owner. In turn they might drop by yours and have a look. If they like what they see, then you might gain a new reader or two. And if you write something link-worthy, they will even link to you from their own blogs. Thus giving you link-love.
