I need a one page layout similar to http://datingsitecomparisons.com/ The differences being: 1) I'm not doing a dating topic, so I want more neutral colors 2) The design needs to be simple (no fancy graphics) but have a trustworthy and confident look-and-feel. So consider which fonts to use, what font sizes, how to layout the page, etc. 3) I will need a logo that says "Consumer Top Rated". But I don't need fancy shading or reflections or stuff. I just need something "bold" or "formal" that gives the viewer confidence that this is a site they can trust. The page will have 5 main sections: 1) Title/Logo (at the top presumably) 2) Topic information (to contain the text with the white background on http://datingsitecomparisons.com/) 3) Comparison information (to contain the comparison table on http://datingsitecomparisons.com/) 4) Vertical banner area (160x600 size) 5) Square banner area (250x250 size) Competition will close Saturday May 19th (noon, US Pacific Time). I reserve the right to pick a winner before that deadline. Winner will have to provide PDF. There will be a $30 bonus _IF_ the winner also provides coded layout and the sliced images: 1) HTML/CSS - With all tables and styles properly defined. 2) Graphics optimization - Smallest graphics files (e.g. JPG or GIF or PNG? use indexed color formats, etc). 3) Graphics optimization - Use repeating images and/or table background-colors, to minimize load times.
The square banner looks a little out of place at the bottom like that. Can you try to find a better spot? The layout looks fresh and modern, but not what I'm looking for in terms of portraying trustworthiness. Check out sites like nytimes.com and wikipedia.org. Those sites scream of "authority", which is the style I'm after.
as requested via pm I have changed the top font and submitted my entry to the contest thread: http://www.chordvariations.com/contoprated01.gif I'll be home tomorrow afternoon if there is anything you would like edited. I can also code html + css.
