To be honest, the fact that the site is 7 years old (actual age is 6 years and 4 months, not 7 years) and still hasn't gotten anywhere is more of a drawback than an advantage, because this means chances are it won't get anywhere within the next 7 years either, unless you do something really radical.

In your current topic, your competition is:
    http://forums.thunderbirdforum.com/
    http://www.thunderbirdnest.com/forums/index.php
The last forum pretty much owns you. The good thing about that is there is actual space where to grow, but, you know, it's got several times more users online today than you've had active in last month.

You may be able to get $1000, IF all the members are actually legit and you can send out emails to them. I personally wouldn't give more than $400, it just doesn't seem like worth the trouble of owning.

I suggest you keep the site if you're a T-Bird fan yourself.

Thanks for your opinion... there are currently 3 legit offers for the forum, $1750 - $2000 - $2050 - In all fairness to several other interested parties I am going to let them do their research before deciding who I will sell it to. I'm glad you sold a $7000 website in an hour an a half but you didn't really offer anything above that was of any value other than your opinion. peace.....

Ummmm --- the title of the thread is: 7 Year Old Car Forum - How Much Is It Worth

The title kinda implies you want opinions. With all due respect - I find it disheartening that you have such an attitude with anyone who says something you dont want to hear. You say it politely, but you come with an attitude. That said....

    These are the facts -

PR 3 - Google has 1 backlink, and 407 indexed pages, most in supplemental. Seems the age of the domain isnt doing much.

    Threads: 2,382
    Posts: 8,083
    Members: 3,008 (Active Members: 89)

Not much activity. When I look at the posting - I see no posts for today, and one post yesterday, 2 posts from the day before. In short - as a forum, the site is all but dead.

Owned license, thats good. 7 Year old domain, keyword rich domain, all good. But -- no traffic, no income. God knows how many of the 3000 members still have the emails they registered with and can be brought back, as well as how many dont have a classic tbird anymore.

From a business level - the site isnt worth much. Minimal income, minimal traffic.

So the value has to be placed on potential. An experienced car forum admin will spend at least 6 months just getting search engine rankings and traffic up. - But the potential is there.

IMO -- You asked me for $3k when I approached you blind about selling the site. Its not worth that from anything I have seen. MAYBE half that. I would be comfortable offeering $1000 - $1200.

If you have a $2000 offer - grab it.

You ask how much its worth - you have several opinions. Ultimately its worth what someone will pay and all our opinions are meaningless. Take your best offer. But dont have an attitude with those who express an opinion

    Hi Joey

tbirdforum.com was never built as an income site, I never thought of it that way, in fact I only put ads on it a month ago. maybe its my fault for not growing the forum, maybe I'm a hobyist and not a marketer like many others that are on this board looking for a value. I let the forum site self develop for many years - I did a very sucessful ad campaign with a mailing a few months ago so the membership base is good. Maybe not as active as I'd like but things are growing slowly. I'm sure the new owners will do wonders with the site. I wish you continued success with your forums. peace.....

I would also agree you take the $2K offer, on a side note some members here love to put other sites down to sort of build theres up. Really shi#@y but just learn to take it with a grain of salt.

PJ - Go with that offer for sure.

I never intended mine to be an income site either, it just kinda "happened" that way.

The great part about that is, I can host meets for my members, set up cool events, and afford cool "add-ons" for their benefit.

Make sure whoever picks it up is "all about the members" - Otherwise, it'll wither and die.

Thanks for the support. I'm letting the sale ride a little longer before choosing a buyer, my goal is to see this be a good fit for the buyer and the community.

    sincerely

The best sites are those created by webmasters who have a passion for the topic. When I created my first big site four years ago, I had no idea how to optimize until I had people telling me that they wanted to place their banner ads on the site. Later, I learned about AdSense and by the time the site was one year old it had a decent income.

Still, I have had my ups and downs with the site and income is secondary. Seems like TBird forums is the same way.

    ^ Agreed.

I have been offered a ridiculous amount of money for mine, and I'd never sell... It's become "who I am".

I would value this site at $1.5k to $2k.

I think the $2k offers are fair ones and you should seriously consider, especially if you really do want to sell. The site needs quite a bit of work, but has good potential.
