anyone that can claim vista to be a good OS is on some serious drugs even Microsoft knows it sucks. hence the release of 7 vista sucks even if ran on a government super computer
XP is so cheap now. Out of the two, XP is more 'worth it'. However if you want all that graphic and design, get Windows 7 or alternatively you can download a Windows 7 theme for XP.
I have had windows 7 installed since the 7000 release and I have to say, I love it. Boot times are much faster, shut down times are much faster, I've not had a crash yet, the new features were a little different to get use to but I like them now, and even though it's still in beta, I think it's pretty stable. I've talked to quite a few people that have installed it and they've not had a single problem.
Coming from a hardcore computer geek that has used several versions of Vista in 32bit and 64Bit flavors as well as Windows in 32Bit and 64Bit flavors, I can whole heartedly say Windows 7 will be a great success. It's everything Vista should have been. It's stable, faster, not as much of a resource hog (not that I felt much of Vista's wrath lol), and is more efficient in terms of productivity levels from the new design changes. I've been using Windows 7 Build 7000 for over two months now and I've been loving every minute of it. Computer specs are as follows: AMD Phenom X4 9850 BE @ 3Ghz Gigabyte GA-MA790FX-DS5 2GB Kingston Hyper X PC2 8500 5-5-5-15 @ 1110Mhz Leadtek GTX 260 Seagate Barracuda 320GB HDD WD Caviar 250GB HDD Thermaltake Toughpower 650W PSU Zalman CNPS 9500 CM Cosmos S 23" Samsung 2343BWT Razor Lycosa Logitech X-540
Yea! You got to be crazy to install it over a secure version of XP. Get a second hard drive and burn the file to DVD and install on the second hard drive. Use some sense.
I use XP I didnt like vista, because my pc is not very good And I also not tried W7 I see the difference explorer 7 and explorer 8 I hope, W7 will be best
I'll wait until the first service pack comes out for 7 and then upgrade. I think microsoft have hit a brick wall with what people want to do with their computers. More and more people are using web applications, and traditional PC tasks are being eroded (last.fm for itunes, hulu/youtube for videos, google docs for office). We are getting to the point where the only use of an OS is to access the internet. XP does this great, and the only reason I'll be updating to 7 is to keep receiving critical security patches.
Windows 7 was suppose to iron out the wrinkles in Vista. I still prefer Windows XP though, perhaps I'm used to it
