didn't know about the multiuser blogger, thanks. anyone have an idea how useful that would be in terms of time-cost efficiency? or compared to the time required for submitting to article directories/lens?

Yeah. I was always under the impression that these techniques were a bit out-of-date with today's search engines.

This guy has no clue what he's talking about, most of his "great tips" that everyone is saying are either common SEO knowledge repeated ad nauseum on forums, or not very effective ways. He does mention one thing that I rarely see in these "everyone to know about SEO" topics, and that is GUEST BLOGGING. I think it is THE best way for quality backlinks. However, it can be difficult getting ahold of the blog owner and then asking if you can make a guest post.

Since when has (“) been commas?

In my personal experience, they are pretty decent, and I've gotten first and second page results on google for some of my articles and keywords on not even that great multi-user wordpress blog sites, BUT I've also had a pretty high ban rate on those sites too. And I only ever include two links in my article, I'm not a spammer, but still banned. Still, I would definitely say they are worth using in conjunction with article directories and sites.
