7 day bans in BST forum

This rule posted by Aaron Nimocks months ago ended with "This will continue until it is clean". I would just like the opinion of moderators about whether the cleansing of the BST section has been accomplished yet. This isn't for me personally but I have always disagreed with this idea in the interest of other members because I see it as an unorthodox method to help members obey the rules.

I think the infraction system was much more efficient as it actually showed members what they did wrong and it made the consequences clear what would happen if they continued. With this new rule in place people can make one minor mistake and end up with a 7 day ban. During this process members have no idea why they are banned and once the ban is over, they return with no knowledge of what they have done wrong.

So what are the views of the moderators on the subject?

The 7-day bans are still in effect, and judgment calls are always made at the discretion of the individual moderators.

The infraction system didnt work in BST so why would it now?

If we lifted that then people would just bump their thread 10 times before they got banned which could take a month or 2 for that to equal a ban. All that time they are bumping their thread and making other threads get buried much quicker.

So what do the people do that are having their threads buried quicker?

Yes, they start bumping too. Then we are back to square 1.

I suggest people just go read the rules and follow them. Then there would be no problem.

Or you can always go pay $15 at sitepoint to get your listings out there.
