Well, I get about 50 cents per click, but not that many click-throughs. So consider yourself lucky that you're getting clicks at all.

I'm in the same boat with super low paying clicks....ALL since the 'system maintenance, things have never been the same since. It all seems very 'fishy' to me!

One out of every 10 people to your site click an ad? Holy crap!

On my main site, I get about 1 click per 1,000 page views, and it's usually a $1+ click... Maybe the CTR has a lot to do with it...

His eCPM can also be a problem. If his eCPM + ctr is low, then his earnings will be low too.

Have you tried to change the colors by any chance?

If you don't like AdSense use something else. I don't see what the problem is.

Repeat visitors will kill your site (statistically speaking, of course).

Wow, this is really bad... what niche is your site in? I would for sure avoid building sites in that niche.... It is either smart pricing or there are not too many advertisers with too many sites displaying ads in the niche.

This is so true :) I always get spikes in AdSense income when SEs start sending me more traffic - first time visitors almost always click ads when they are ready to leave the site.

low payment per click does not equal smart priced.

I have two Christmas sites, one does about 30 cents per click and the other does about 3 cents per click. The difference is that one site does mostly Christmas wallpaper traffic (referred by google images) and the other does other things. The wallpaper site gets lots of traffic, but I imagine that the people looking for Christmas wallpaper are not interested in the higher paying ads...they probably only want the ones that say "free christmas wallpaper" or "free screensavers".

Has my wallpaper site been smart-priced? I hope not, I certainly don't trick people into clicking, also when they search on wallpaper, my site has lots. I don't think that smart pricing is the answer to every low per click payment, content is (ususally). The real trick is to get someone to your site searching on wallpaper and then make them think they want something else when they are there. Impulse shopping anyone?

Let me give you another example. I have an MMA web site. For 20 days of the month I get low (<5 cents per click) on the site. The week of the fights I can get up to 50 cents per click. So, I have not been smart-priced, just the high paying advertisers only list when the demand is high.

You outlined some very valid points Jon Murray. I also noticed that adsense revenue fluctuates during the course of the month, day, and even time of day. I guess that is how advertisers run their campaigns.

I'm experiencing low eCPM as your exprience, thanks God it still bringing me more cost per click than yours.
But still it sucks! I could get a hundred dollars a day for say .. 400-450 clicks 6-10 months ago, but now with the same amount of click I only get maximum $30 .. I'm talking the same niche

That's really bad. I earned the same amount with only 102 clicks!

Yes, Widgetbucks pays a lot better.

Then you have pretty good statistic.

Widgetbucks are good because you can use it along with adsense, and if smart place it won't reduce your adsense ctr at all ,as for me .

3 cents per click? Man that's really low. Mine is about 0.10-0.15 and I consider that as very low...

Maybe you could place some content on your pages to help the AdSense... uh, sense what kind of ads, to display. Maybe something like, Did you know that... <some content related to the activity> Don't know, but maybe you would get more clicks from your users and more monetization from the advertisers.
