    Hi everyone,

I own on article directory and my alexa ranking is going up every week. I have around 4000+ registered authors. The site is receiving 400-600 views every day. ...and the alexa ranking for the site is near 40,000. However, when I log into my google adsense account daily... i would see only 1 click for the week... most times there are no clicks at all....

    What am I doing wrong?

Yeah ad placement does matter as well as Ad blending....
Make sure your Google ads don't look like ads but a part of your site.

I think most of the visitors are the authors and they don't click ads because they know what it is. I know about it too and I don't usually click ads too.

Agree, what about monetizing those authors by adding something like CPA Lead surveys at the submit page, it will monetizing them well as they will have to complete a survey to unlock the the submission page and submit their sites. Let Adsense for organic visitors..

Try to put some ads in the submission page because some author use auto submitter software where they just can log in to your submission page without passing the homepage.
    Hope that helps

i think you need to find out what those impressions are. If the majority are your authors then they really are not interested in your adsense ads. All they want to d is submit their articles or see how their account is doing. You need to do some traffic analysis and then try and get some traffic that is more likely to be interested in your adsense ads i.e. search engine traffic.
Also you need to experiment with your adsense ads. Try different banner sizes, positionsm, colour schemes etc.

    1. Change ad placement and experiment with text and image ads
    2. Make sure you have your adsense targeting the main content to drive more relevant ads
    3. Determine if your users are actually people willing to buy and not just there to quickly add in their articles then bounce.
    4. Perhaps try text link advertising?

I'm thinking the main cause other than placement/color is what Murlu said, they might be logging in just to add an article then exit your site.

Try to place ads in between the contents other than using them in sidebars or header position!
