No they will not link to you. That's crap.

I argue with quite a few people and it has had no effect whatsoever.

Though I did have a stint with Paul Scrivens,,, but then he linked to my article on seochat.com so it did me no good.

 

Very good tips, I like them - you're right, some of them I haven't seen before. I wrote an article similar to this, titled 75 Ways to Increase Your Site's Traffic. It works mainly for blogs, and if you're interested, the link is in my signature.

Good effort

 

A good example of this which we can all relate to is when Jason Calacanis said "SEO is bullshit":

That got a lot of attention...

The key is that you have to back it up with an intelligent argument, in Jason's case he puts forward a good argument (although I disagree with it).

I guess it is time that I get started.

It seems like a lot of work at first, but then looking again it is just stuff people do online. Now all you have to do is link into it.

This is not a good tip. It is very very wrong.

In the long run it can destroy your entire website and that won't be very nice. It is better to have an unique 404 page well designed with usability in mind.

And yes, I also remember reading these things somewhere else before.

 

Good Point Creating a custom 404 page is much better than redirecting to your homepage.

And yeah a lot of these tips have been posted by various people all over the net. Most of them are nothing new - I've been using a lot of them for a long time, and I will have probably picked most of them up off other people along my journey.

My list is just giving something back - sharing what I have learned along the way with others.

Looks to me like the OP (Jason) had his post stolen and copied and pasted at that other forum. It even states, I often see posts like these at DP and think I can do better....and credit is given to Jason Green at the bottom...duh!

Give the man the credit he deserves for trying to help out DP members.
